BDAG Search
Hello,
I am considering adding the BDAG to my Logos resource collection. I have this book in print and I also have it in electronic searchable format in another Bible study software package. What I am wondering is if the BDAG search facilities that were available in Logos 3 for the BDAG (see info on link: http://www.logos.com/products/details/1687 ) are included in Logos 4 or not?
Thank you,
Mike

Do you know why the search fields do not show up in the BDAG resource information? Search fields there is blank. It would seem the BDAG section "About the Electronic Edition" should be revised to include L4 info.

You didn't perchance accidentally select the BDAG help file did you?

Sounds like you've got either bad metadata for that resource or a corrupt resource file. I see all the info in my version:

Is your "search fields" minimized?
Click on the triangle:
Does that fix it?

... or perhaps accidentally selected the BGAD?

I don't see an expand arrow (see below). And I don't have any previous editions of BDAG, however spelled. The support info is below - I just bought and downloaded it yesterday.

Ah. then maybe a metadata update will soon come your way. You might try restarting a couple times, if you haven't already.

Tes, I'm not sure I understand your question. Do you mean "in the entire library"? Just open up a basic search and enter Romans 5:12-21 in the search field.

I'm right about to update this in the wiki as of 4.0c. Search Fields for any resource are now available in a drop down menu by clicking on "All Text."
This is brilliant, I had no idea we could do this. You can search journals by author!

Yes, just like I said, but make it sure it's "All Text", not "Bible Text":

I have the exact same problem as Ken. Resource information has nothing in the "search fields section". And there are no options to select search fileds when searching the BDAG. Like Ken I also purchased the BDAG just a few days ago. However, restarting Logos (as Todd suggested to Ken) doesn't solve the issue for me.
Todd, how do you mean that metadata update may be coming? I thought buying a product always meant getting the latest version/update of the resource. Isn't that the case? Is there anyway to force a metadata update for a specific resource?

I had the same problem before I had to find out that I checked the wrong drop down field. In the example above the "All text" drop down menu opens the next level search fields.

Tes,
Your search window is for a Bible search. If you want to search your entire library then you need a "Basic search" (Click the word Basic next to the "Bible" Then you will have the option to search your entire library for a Romans reference.

The metadata isn't part of the resource file, it's descriptive data about the resource (like the info in the library window) that can be updated on the fly by Logos without a resource update.
When you download the resource for the first time, it will need to download the metadata too. But I think that it's is only picked up on restart, and you might have to restart once for the metadata to be applied. (I don't know this authoritatively, but it seems to be what happens).

Not that I know of.

Many thanks for the explanation Todd. I didn't know that the metadata wasn't part of the resource file.
I've repeatedly tried restarting Logos but with no sucess. I've tried "Update Now", "Update Resources" and even "Sync Now" but the metadata of the BDAG are still missing. Seems like an odd thing.
Any suggestions anyone?

I think I understand now. You need to click on the blue text that displays the Romans reference and then select All passages then you should be able to use the Bible search to search all of Word Study.

Tes, when you are in a search window each section of blue text indicates an option that you can change.
