My favourite study ,is to study the Bible inductively .Is there a way , how  I can high light the repeated words ,by means of colours or any other means?

Blessings in Christ.

Hi Tess,

click on Tools and there you will see highlighting. listed. Just click on this and the highlighting window will open. Once you open it, you can even "drag" the top part of the window that say Highlighting" to the "shortcut" area besides the Command box. Then whenever you want to highlight a word, you can just click on your icon for highlighting and it will open the highlighting palette for you.

When you want to highlight a word with a color or symbol, first highlight the word in your Bible text by dragging your mouse across the word. then click on the color or symbol in your highlighting window and voila, your word is now color coded the way you want!

Hope this helps!

Charlene

I prefer inductive study myself. Once you identify the repeated words - (e.g. immediately in Mark), you can use visual filters to mark them.

Hi Tes, it's only 5:30pm here. I'm often up way past 2:00AM in my time zone on this Forum, though. Smile

Answering your question to Terry about how to do inductive Bible study, there is a ministry which many Logos users are familiar with and have been trained in their methods, called Precept, started by Kay Arthur. Their website is http://www.precept.org. They probably don't have a training class in your country, but at least you can get an idea of what is involved from their overview sheet: http://www.precept.org/site/DocServer/InductiveStudyOverview_1-Sheet.pdf?docID=701

Tes, there are basically two ways (or more) to make a visual filter:

1. Go to File: and choose visual filter, then if you know which words you want, you set your range, enter the words, then choose the formatting for each word.

The second way is to do your search first, which will give you a good idea of how many hits you are going to get, then if it is satisfactory, choose "Make filter" on the top of the search. This will take you to a visual filter form where you enter your formatting.

Here's a free Precepts For Life study guide available to show you the method (it's for the 2nd part of Jeremiah): http://www.precept.org/site/PageServer?pagename=brd_PFL_download_current

More archived free PFL downloads here: http://www.precept.org/site/PageServer?pagename=brd_PFL_download_archive

Also here is a sample chapter from their Precepts Upon Precepts Bible Study series -- it's for the book of Ephesians:
http://store.precept.org/download/PUP_Ephesians_Excerpt.pdf

Also Kay Arthur's How To Study Your Bible explains the whole Precepts Inductive Bible Study method. Unfortunately, it's not in Logos format (yet), but you can order it online for about $11 USD + shipping: http://store.precept.org/p-358-how-to-study-your-bible.aspx

Please note that I've never used any of Precepts materials so I'm not personally familiar with them (though I did get introduced to the method in a class on leading small group Bible studies, among many other methods that we studied), so I'm not endorsing this particular training organization, just pointing out that other Logos users have recommended it.

Tes, here is a link to where I asked other people about how they used Logos to do inductive bible study, Rosie pointed you toward Precept, which I use. But there are links to other inductive study sites in that thread as well, including a couple of free ones.

I am not sure what you mean by "coming to the final"?

I use Notes (in Logos4) to record my observations and questions as I observe the passage. Then i put my final notes together in MS Word.

Eventually the sermon feature will allow one to stay within Logos.

http://www.logos.com/products/details/3164 for the old version. I would expect some changes/improvements when it comes to L4.
