Maybe it's time to Optimize.

I am just making this suggestion in response to the numerous performance issues from Mark Barnes, myself (Not Responding), and others since the Beta 7 release and in the RC1 Release.

Does anyone think that it may be time for Logos to take a short break from features and catch up with optimization?  I am having a lot of the same delay issues as Mark and others in regards to the loading of resources and assigning highlighting.  Some books take minutes to load.

Thanks, Logos.

We're working on optimisations in parallel with adding new features. One optimisation has been noticed on the forums (http://community.logos.com/forums/p/16456/124846.aspx#124846). Apart from that, we did a lot of work in this release to optimise reverse interlinear performance (for the "full screen" reverse interlinears), particularly in the area of Greek and Hebrew transliteration. The Mac team has optimised the Biblical People/Places/Things resources (http://community.logos.com/forums/t/16506.aspx) for a 20x (or more) speedup on Mac; this improvement will be in 4.0d (though it's less noticeable on Windows). Search results display time was improved (particularly for Bible search results in reverse interlinears, but it was improved across the board).

That being said, it's clear that opening certain resources is (becoming) a significant problem for many users; we will be looking into this to see if there are improvements we can make in 4.0d.

Thank you Bradley - I know that there has been great strides on your team's part in regards to optimization - especially the speed in indexing (THANKS!).  I just remember Bob once saying that the goal was to push the features then optimize.  I can't seem to find this link and I may have misunderstood.  So, this was the logic behind my posting.  For me, Logos is becoming more and more unusable due to the time it takes to load resources.

Thank you for addressing this headon in 4.0d.
