Kindle Export

I sure miss the Kindle export function. I understand the issues with maybe having Logos email directly to the Kindle, but is there a way that we can export the Kindle book locally and then send it ourselves to Kindle.

Currently I can export a book (or sections of a book) to word or pdf and email that to Kindle. But what is missing was the ability to turn Bible verses and footnotes into links that I can tap on in my kindle. I love to read on the digital ink screen of the Kindle but prefer the hyperlinked verse references and having the book in Logos & on my Kindle.

Could an export format be created in Logos that would serve this purpose?

I am not sure about what you are asking Jacob, but there are apparently some Android based ereaders such as the Onyx Boox 2 that run Logos Mobile, this may be of interest to you.

I've actually tried both of those ideas. So far the android based ereader that I tried was a pretty miserable experience and I gave up before even finishing a single book.

And unfortunately app.logos.com doesn't work well in the kindle web browser.

Logos used to have a "send to kindle" function where you would give Logos your Kindle's email address and you could export a book that they would automagically send to your kindle. The text would even have tappable hyperlinks for verse references and footnotes so you could see the text of the Bible or content of the footnote as you read on the Kindle. They got rid of it for copyright issues or Amazon troubles of some sort.

Ok thanks good to know about your experience, I was considering going ereader way next tablet upgrade, perhaps will delay for now.

The send to kindle feature ending is certainly a sad thing, I imaging Amazon did not want people purchasing books elsewhere for use on their devices.

They still allow it from other sources. You can download something in Mobi format and then send it to your Kindle. I wonder if the problem had more to do with copyright issues with the publishers Logos was dealing with.

Nord thank you, yes you could email them I remember now, not used mine in a good few years.

Jacob when exported to Word there are links (ref.ly/logosref/bible.lk3.7 etc) to bible verses, I wonder if anyone has a script to convert these into footnotes?That would be useful.

Even more useful would be if Logos would create them. Perhaps you can do a UserVoice vote for it, it would have my vote?

I think part of the problem was that Amazon did not want third parties (other than individual users) installing books on the Kindle. It may have been copyright issues, though I expect it to be a concern for competition sharing the platform (i.e. not purchasing books from Amazon). As others have noted, you can download books and personally upload them to Kindle in a variety of formats:

A script to convert these links to actually contain the text of the footnote would be wonderful.
