Paul Caneparo:

Has it always been possible to just buy the library in base packages - rather than also upgrading the full feature set?

Yes, the feature set and the library have been sold separately since the launch of Logos 7.

Paul Caneparo:

Or am I seeing this for the first time because I have a trial subscription to Faithlife Connect?

Yes. Faithlife Connect subscribers see the library-only price by default, although they do get an option to also buy the feature set.

Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

That's really great to know. I'll keep an eye out for future upgrades now. I've always ignored them as I've only ever seen big ticket prices before. $40 made it worth upgrading my library.

Nice! Is the daily deal visible now on the website?

After reading and researching the usefulness of the resources includes in Portfolio and another discount I was given, I pulled the trigger on the Portfolio Standard BP.  The price was right and it added a little over 800 resources to my library,  By the looks of it, my dynamic pricing will be very substantial when L9 comes out 👍😁👌

I think you will be pleased.

I chatted with customer service this morning and they said purchasing Starter, then Bronze, then Silver would Not be cheaper.  Has anyone actually done this recently?  I think I've read in the forums about people having mixed results with this - like this strategy may not work if you are buying for the first time.

.....

So basically, my original price for Platinum was 218.57, and I paid 174.97 by working up to it.  I have not purchased Diamond, but my price would go from 615.99 to 572.05.

There were previously intense discussions and theories on this. Logos then tried to prevent that complex upgrading strategies are cheaper than simply purchasing the one desired package. That's also what Customer Service still states.

However, it looks like there are still issues. I find it frustrating that I have to spend so much time trying to figure out the best upgrade path. A bigger package should come with a bigger discount.

Hah! I literally just purchased Standard Portfolio and now I’m getting emails about upgrading to Collector’s BP!

And did I mention that right before I upgraded I was also getting emails about upgrading to Diamond Standard.

I don’t mind the emails, especially when they‘re offering an exclusive none advertised offer I won’t see online to upgrade to Collector’s.  Unfortunately, collector’s has too many “collectors” classics.  So no need to spend more.  I’d rather save my money for when Logos 9 comes out 👍😁👌

I have found that you get the best deal by moving up one package at a time. This assumes you aren't on a payment plan and all. FWIW, it doesn't appear to be a whole lot of savings, but it rewards you to look at your options carefully. I saved about $7 yesterday by simply doing two steps instead of one. Not a giant yay, but a yay nonetheless.

I really wished Logos looked into this. I feel frustrated that one has to purchase packages, then maybe return them and try a different upgrade path. Many times Logos stated (here in the forum and sales reps on the phone or by e-mail) that the best  way is to go immediately with the biggest package one can afford.

I live in the developing world and am used to having to calculate prices in different ways. Numerous times, a larger, "special offer" package with 10% extra free is more expensive per 100g than several smaller packages at regular price. But that's the developing world. Logos should do better.

I've seen that in major supermarkets in the UK too, quite a number of times. A jumbo pack which makes you think you are getting better value for money is more expensive than three smaller packs of the same brand/product. Crafty. It is easy to calculate when the price per 100g is displayed for both without having to calculate it.

I saw a great deal: Logos 8 Academic Pro. https://www.logos.com/product/165463/logos-8-academic-professional

It has TDOT (15 vols) in there, which is probably the most accessible base package it has been bundled in, as far as I could see.

Depending on folks' purchasing history, https://www.logos.com/product/184087/verbum-8-academic-professional may be more accessible for some.

For me, both Academic Professional are $29 and change, but the resources don’t really catch my interest.

The regular price is $900, so is not that great of a deal unless you have a substantial discount due to dynamic pricing.

John Duffy:

Thank you, Mr Duffy!

I thought I was done purchasing until the pre-L9 packages. But then picking up UBS and finishing ICC, both maybe $2,400 for $200 and change seemed finally worth it. I recognize ICC oldies are severely over-priced, but even just UBS for $200 is a-ok!  I had UBS in OliveTree maybe 15 years ago, and wanted to bring him 'home'.

I compared Logos vs Verbum. They're almost alike (for me). If there'd been New Jerome instead of Collegeville, there'd be no question. Even double the price.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for sharing your experience. I would like to find out from you and the rest, must the upgrade path be done in the SAME BP?

OR can I switch sideways i.e. say I start with Starter Standard, then Bronze Lutheran, then Silver Anglican, and so on... and still able to take the advantage of greater discounts? (edited)

You can buy any package in any order. Of course dynamic pricing is based on overlap. So buying Starter Standard, will have a bigger impact on Bronze Standard than on Bronze Lutheran for example. But I, for me, own 13 starter packages, 2, bronze, 1 gold, academic premium and maybe a few others. And I have bought them in a random order, just what package interested me most at a certain point.

Welcome Big Smile

No since upgrade path can be any direction from previous BP purchase(s).

Yes. Seem to remember various Starter and/or Bronze having a bit better discount than higher levels (along with overlap between so purchase order can affect overall total).
