Can print notes to PDF document, then transfer document to iPad for use with PDF reader application (e.g. CloudReader).

On Windows, Bullzip PDF Printer is free.

Looking forward to Logos on iPad syncing Notes (along with highlighting) sometime.

Yes, would become a better teaching tool if notes could be included with text to eliminate the need to close pdf, open Bible, etc.

Sorry, wrong post. Meant to say would become a better teaching/preaching tool if prepared text and notes could be saved and presented side by side to the instructor/preacher.

Logos on the iPad is really just a glorified reader at present and does not even have the functionality of Bible programs like Olive Tree or YouVersion.  In both of these programs, you can highlight passages and take notes.

Any idea when this might be coming to the Logos iPad app?

Taxee,

Even if it did have the capability to take/sync notes and highlight from what it is now it wouldn't change your definition from a glorified reader, would it?

Mindful that this is running on an iPad along side the likes of time wasting favorites such as Angry Birds and Tetris I'm grateful we have the ability to tap into the passage guide, word study, and search functions the desktop version does do well.  It runs quickly on a very small piece of technology.  I'm already satisfied.  The implementations you mention would make it even cooler.

Notes and highlights have been in "coming soon" status for several months now.

Can someone at Logos provide a quick status update?  Is it undergoing beta testing?  Were the resources diverted to push out the Android app?

Thanks!

Peter

The reason they don't have notes and highlights when these other software already have the capability is that logos wants to be able to sync that data with the PC and Mac versions of Logos. Where as these other software have no other system in which to sync. Meaning they simply need to receive text and redisplay it back to you.

Now i know you might say you would desire to have the simple capability now since these other software have it but once it is created it will be impossible to move those comments back to the PC/Mac systems. Meaning your note on the iphone/ipad app will only be on that one iphone/ipad. The system they will have will allow you to make all your notes on your PC/Mac and then jump over to your Ipad and read them in class/church/on the road. They system is much more advanced than any of the other reader apps require, need or are capable of.

I am happy that they are saying it is coming and i would much prefer what they will be coming out with, than just the simple notes that these other apps have.

Whatever the reasons for the delay in providing the note feature, the delay is creating a deep sense of frustration in Logos customers. Having to switch to other programs to make notes, builds a preference for things that do the job. There are too many disatisfied users out there to ignore the seriousness of this fundamental lack in an otherwise great program.

Welcome Big Smile

Thankful for Bob Pritchett's reply (on 30 May 2011) => Highlighting and notes a needed feature.

Bob Pritchett:

Highlighting and notes are coming very soon for both the Logos and Vyrso mobile applications. We're presently behind the other mobile eBook readers in that area, but when we release we'll suddenly be miles ahead. :-)

You'll have the power of Logos 4's highlighting and notes, including the graphical highlight styles and the ability to have multiple note files. And, soon, the ability to share your notes and highlights with groups, or the whole world.

Apologies, not know "very soon" timeframe (nearer than "soon" promised earlier).  Logos 4.3 Beta 6 (released 31 May) included sync updates:

Tonya J Ross: The re-writing of the sync feature is being done in order to pave the way for some exciting future features (groups, sharing, collaboration, etc.)

Speculating sync update could include Logos mobile applications so "very soon" may be in conjunction with Logos 4.3 stable release so can sync highlighting and notes between mobile devices and Logos 4, which would be "miles ahead" Geeked

Since 4.3 Beta 6, Logos has been releasing weekly Beta updates (nominally Beta releases are 2 weeks apart); appears Logos has a sense of urgency for "very soon" sync of notes and highlights along with Personal Book Builder (PBB).

I understand why the patience of many is running short on the notes feature but KS4J would appear to be accurate on the software side of things.  Logos is not only writing an iOS app, but dealing with Android, PC, & Mac.  Trying to introduce a feature, all at once, that will work across four different platforms is very difficult at best. One might say it is nigh impossible.  Can you imagine the frustration of the Android community if the notes feature were only iOS?  Or the Mac community if Notes continued to be subpar, but Windows got mobile sync as well?  They are trying to bring everything together at once so that all of the platforms will be on level playing ground.  Hopefully soon is very, very, very soon!

Funny . . . I thought that was the whole purpose of software companies switching over to XML files.  The HTML-like tags would allow simple text files to be tagged out in ways that would make them accessible across all formats.  I don't know, this just doesn't seem like that difficult a task to me.  But that's just me.

You can't read over 2,000 of the books in my Logos library on Olive Tree or YouVersion.  For my purposes, Logos on the iPad far outshines anything else, and it didn't cost me anything.   But that is just me.

your right Michael, over the past several weeks, using this product that we all want more out of, I have written several of my sermons from my Ipad... I could not even come close to that with the others... oh, and I have them too, but they are just not up to the task, nor do they have the resources.  Every book that I normally use for my sermons is on my Ipad and available offline... I can read, copy, paste, and using documents to go, write it all out... and then send it back to my desktop for safe keeping, and leave it on my ipad to preach from.  what more could I want!

Not precisely true.  Those iOS app developers are getting paid by your product purchases.  I think it would be more correct to say the iOS app is "included" rather and saying it's "free" or it "didn't cause you anything."  We are paying for it.

That being said, because of the library the Logos app is more valuable to me than the other Bible apps out there, but from a functionality standpoint, the app itself is way behind, which is why I often find myself using Laradian on my iPad when I'm doing Bible study away from my PC.

Hi everyone.  Is there any update on this issue?  Is there a note taking and highlighting capability yet?

Clayton - Logos is currently working on version 4.5 (in beta now). A major feature of this release is a new sync infrastructure which will bring the capability for notes and highlighting to the mobile apps. Below is a screenshot that Dave Dunkin posted as a tease. There is no public information about when this feature may be available, but it will not be before Logos 4.5 goes live.

We're getting closer...

Excited about 4.5, but the reality is that Logos is the best app on the iPad.

After purchasing my iPad, I saw the capabilities with the Logos app then after seeing that  I purchased a L4 base package. I had some old Logos 2.0 IVP Reference software that would not work, but was able to upgrade to Logos 4 with the base package.

Having Platinum on my iPad is amazing, notes and highlighting will be gravy.  I currently use Evernote or Tecarta for notes, but ready to switch when I can!

Now, if Logos will just stop all those amazing sales.....Big Smile
