I am considering buying an Apple computer. Question: Would I have all my resources if I made the change OR would I have to re-buy my entire package (portfolio)? I would appreciate any feedback you can give me.
You can freely move between PC and Mac as you wish. You purchased a license to your books, not to a platform-specific version of Logos.
All your books will transfer over to your Mac if you decided to go that direction.
Kevin's right.
But you should be aware that the Mac version is still behind the PC version. If your main purpose for your computer is Logos4, I'd still recommend a PC. If you have any questions about that suggestion, check out the Mac forums here. The Mac version has come a long, long way. But it's not at parity yet.
This is true but at this point it is basically a hair behind, last difference i see in beta program is the mac will not display images in PBB files yet. There might be something about handouts still, I am not sure it has not been implemented on mac because it was being completely redone in the widows side. From what I hear (I am a mac user only) windows is a bit faster (most users say a bit, some users for whatever reason are experiencing mac logos with poor performance. From what i have seen on other computers my mac Logos seems to be as fast.

Are we using the same program??? We certainly don't seem to be using it in the same way.
The list of things PC users can do and I can't is longer than my arm, and virtually every week I learn new things to add to it here on the forums. And then there's the almost daily crashes and the hundreds of bugs that makes it impossible to do even the things that are supposed to work.
The only thing of significance that is lagging on the Mac is the viability of Notes. This is being worked on, so it's really a question of not if but when.
You can always run Windows on a Mac, so I would say go for a Mac.
Thanks for the input, guys. I think I'll wait on buying an apple until it is up to par as far as Logos 4 is concerned.
That is wise Steven. I bought a Mac around 2 years ago because Logos was supposed to be the same on both. Well they still are not and really a Mac isn't that much better than a PC with Win 7 in fact I prefer my PC now. For around half the money you can get a PC that is equal to a Mac IMHO. Of course I use mine primarily for Sermon Prep and Study. Just my 2 cents. Not dogging on the Mac there are some cool features about it, but not worth the extra money.

I am admittedly not a power user, just basic studying of a passage or subject, I know that the mac programers had stated things were close to being on par now. I am curious to know which items you can not do with the mac version (I don't doubt you just wish to know what is going on, I do almost all my original language study on Accordance since I own all my lexicons/ dictionaries in it).

Wiki Mac and PC User Interface Differences => Feature Parity section lists many PC features yet to be implemented/exposed for Mac use. Thankful for awesome Logos 4 Mac improvements; looking forward to more. Thankful for Logos 4 sync between Mac and PC.
Keep Smiling [:)]

KS4J has a thread in the Mac Beta forum listing differences. And I have a long list of things to add to that list as soon as I find the time. About once a week or so someone here on the forums teaches me a new trick that turns out not to work on Mac. Last it was George who taught me he could open layouts with alt-a + a few letters from the layout's name. As far as I can find, there is no shortcut for that on Mac. But far worse is the lack of size controls, the next to unusable Notes, the Passage Lists that can't be rearranged... Plus, like I said, there's all the things that are supposed to be the same, but aren't because of bugs and crashes.
Because of all this it ends up taking me 20-40 hours to get 1 hour's work done. Since I bought Logos in September I probably haven't done more than 1 week's work altogether. And then I still only report a small part of the bugs and crashes I encounter. Replicating one issue in order to write a bug report inevitably leads to encountering at least two more issues, so reporting all simply can't be done.
Worst of all is that I discover new differences and bugs much faster than the devs do anything about them.
My point is really quite simple: if a main purpose for purchasing a new computer is to use Logos, a Mac is probably not (yet) your best choice.
I should add, that if one is committed to the Mac platform for some other reason, the Mac version of Logos is probably better than anything else out there on the Mac platform, if not now, certainly in the future as Logos for Mac continues to be developed. I've been impressed the progress of the Mac development team has made, and was quite skeptical when they first started. With each beta release, the Mac team makes huge strides in catching up with the Windows program (which is also moving forward!). They must be working very, very hard and deserve a lot of credit.
Having said that, I do notice that many with a Mac still run Logos4 via a Windows virtual machine. Those that run the Mac version do report problems the Windows version does not have. Hence, my recommendation.
Thanks Richard! I too have been considering a switch as the Mac seems pretty cool in many respects, and I use a ipod touch for daily Bible reading, but I'm very appreciative of the slickness of Logos running on PC and since it's my main tool, I'll stick with a PC for a few more years!
Am aware of several Logos 4 Mac posters that primarily use Logos 4 Mac for Bible Study. Also aware of several Logos 4 users that edit notes using Logos 4 PC then sync to Mac (via Logos servers).
Wiki Logos 4 Mac => Need Logos 4 PC feature? section includes virtualization tips and native boot options. If run Windows in a virtual machine on Mac as an enabler for Logos 4, have option of not installing other software (e.g. anti-virus) so Windows virtual machine runs faster and avoids many software conflicts. The clipboard can be shared between virtual machine and Mac OS X, helpful for copy and paste. Also, some virtualization manager(s) allow Logos 4 PC in a virtual machine to appear as a Mac application.
For a desktop computer, Apple's 27" iMac has a high resolution 2,560 x 1,440 screen (3,686,400 pixels) which is 11.1 % less than dual 1920 x 1080 monitors (4,147,200 pixels total). Mouse movement on a single high resolution monitor does not have any air gaps to jump. Considering monitor cost, Apple's 27" iMac is competitively priced. Also, Apple offers refurbished iMac's => http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/mac/imac including 2nd fastest 27" iMac => http://store.apple.com/us/product/G0JP0LL/A (1 TB drive) and http://store.apple.com/us/product/G0JP2LL/A (256 GB SSD).
When comparing laptops, noticed Apple has returned to premium pricing (especially for 17" models). With a Dell Outlet coupon, can purchase a 2nd Generation Quad Core i7 laptop with 17" screen for less than half of an Apple refurbished 17" MacBook Pro.
Looking forward to OS X Lion shipping next month, followed by several Mac model refreshes (reading rumors about MacBook AIr, Mac Mini, and Mac Pro).
Logos 4 is resource intensive on Mac & PC – benefits from fast processor, graphics, and disk along with adequate memory (i.e. newer hardware since Logos 4 being designed for use over 5 to 8 years).
