Antivirus keeps telling that Logos4.exe is infected

Hi everybody,
Ok following the forum advice I disable the real time protection from AVIRA antivirus and fully reinstalled Logos. Went to the AVIRA setup and configured the proper exceptions in the scanning and real time protection area, adding the logos executable file and the entire logos4 directory. Made sure that no more updates where still pending before reactivating real time protection by issuing update now command and that returns that there were no more updates. I wait for the indexing proses to finish and then re-activated AVIRA real time protection. Launch logos and at the beginning it works but after a while AVIRA block access to logos again reporting the same virus.
Any idea of what to do?

The problem is likely with Avira, and the solution should be there too. What you will need to do is tell Avira to ignore Logos4, or put Logos4 in a "white list." Since I don't have Avira I can't tell you precisely how to do this. I would also suggest you report Logos4 as a false positive to Avira, so they can update their virus definitions to exclude Logos4.
You might find further help on the Avira web site or with Avira tech support.

Hi Edil,
I had this problem as well with my Avira. This is what I did and I haven't had a problem since:
1. In your Avira Software click on "Extras"
2. Click on Configuration
3. On the left side highlight "Scanner" and then highlight "Scan"
4. Highlight "Exceptions"
5. Click on the ... button to browse to the following file and then click "ADD":
- Windows XP:
"C:\Documents and Settings\USER NAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Logos4\Logos4.exe" - Windows Vista/7: C:\Users\USER NAME\AppData\Local\Logos4\Logos4.exe
6. Then on the left side go down to "Guard" and highlight "Scan" and scroll down to "Exceptions"
7. Go to the bottom part that says "File Objects to be Omitted by the Guard" and select the same file as above then click "ADD"
Then click "Apply" and "Ok" at the bottom.
I needed to restart Logos and it had an additional download but since then it's been working perfectly.
I hope that helps
EDIT: As Michael pointed out below, after clicking on "Configuration" you need to check the box labeled "Expert Mode."

If someone could submit the file here: http://analysis.avira.com/samples/index.php
That should stop this happening for other users too.

Hey guys! After having the Avira problem too, I also had that problem (see the picture). I cannot install the update.
Anyone has a solution?
Please try this --> http://wiki.logos.com/Fixing_Logos_4_folder_Ownership
If installation gives the same message then start Logos 4 by right clicking the shortcut and "Run as Administartor", then allow the update OR
use the weblink and then run Setup.exe as Admin.

Ok Mark,
Submitted the logos4.exe file as a false positive for malware. It will be good if other users submit it too even if you are not using avira.
Thnaks.

Good call Michael. I had mine set to expert by default and completely forgot about it. Thanks for the correction.

I have done all the things Ryan B. has suggested, yet Avira still blocks the .exe when I restart the computer. This thing is driving me crazy!

I just tried this an it didn't work, but then realized that I should have typed in my user name rather than just copying USER NAME ... How do I find out what my user name is? As far as I am aware it is my e-mail address. Do I just paste that in?

So, please ignore the last idiotic question about usernames. The instructions here http://community.logos.com/forums/p/44395/330581.aspx#330581 solved my problem.

Michael, Ryan thanks for your help,
Yes, I always use AVIRA in expert mode. If you are not in expert mode you can not add the exceptions as I explained in my first post, so good hint/tip there for AVIRA user.
Suddenly AVIRA is allowing LOGOS to work in my computer again and I haven't modify anything else. So let see if it keeps working.
Again thanks you all for all your help. [Y]

I use WebRoot anti-virus/anti-malware, and the file "Logos.Documents.Contracts.dll" is quarantined as malware. After allowing the file, I then get the administrative message mentioned above. The file installed has 0 kb. This is the first time WebRoot has had any problems with Logos4 updates - either system or resources - WHAT CHANGED?

There's been problems with Webroot throughout the beta. It's Webroot's fault - there's no virus in that file. I reported several of the betas as false positives and they fixed their system, but they've obviously not made the changes necessary to stop new versions being quarantined. I ended up uninstalling Webroot and going to another anti-virus system (which was a shame).
Anyway, you can fix the problem on your computer, using the instructions here: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/42487/319273.aspx#319273

Thanks for your reply Mark.
That is the process I used to allow the file in WebRoot.
Not sure why Logos4 is now performing "First-Time Indexing", but hopes are that it completes successfully and the problem is solved.
Thanks also for the reminder on the WebRoot Secure Anywhere update - never had an issue before that.
