I would like to voice my support of Logos investing in developing the iPad/iPhone app further. Tabbed reading and limited Bible search field would be greatly useful. I see more and more iPads at my seminary, and know that Logos could really further their case to be the leader in Bible software with a robust application for the iPad.

Independent multiple scrollable (and linked if required) split screen. I think Laridian does this best - looks good and is readable with 3 splits.

Does Logos have a wishlist for the iPad app?

For the past few months, I have been forcing myself to use Logos instead of my hardcopy Bible at a weekly Bible study. As a result, I have a few suggestions for making the iPad app into a better product. For example:

Support tabbed reading panes (Google Chrome implemented this interface extremely well). I am not talking about splitting the screen.

Ability to search on New Testament, not the entire Bible.

Ability to scroll text, not simply turn a page. If this is not possible, at least let users align the page to any starting point.

Allow me to use my BDAG more easily, at least when I am connected via WiFi, to look-up selected words.

With IOS 6, support Siri's voice capabilities to permit hands-free navigation.

Excellent list overall. Personally, I haven't thought of need to scroll text, so not 100% clear on how it would provide a better user experience, so I'd probably put this at bottom of list if I was going to prioritize the list.

I agree Read to me should also be on list, but like voice navigation, though would probably not see it as a great option in a classroom or church, everyone talking to their iPad could get a little distracting, just one person in church would be distracting for the congregation, but would find it useful in other situations.

Ok, not sure what this would be called, but

PLEASE

Make an option, to allow the bible, always start at the same point. Foe example, on an iPad, I would like Romans 1:4 or what ever to always appear at the same place. Many people have a photographically memory, and the only thing I don't like about electronic bibles, is verse keep moving around - where as - in an actual bible, I can remember things like, roman 1:4 is on the right page, 2nd column pretty close to the bottom... And I can remember many verses like that.

So, I would like some way to, select, for every time I go to a verse or chapter, for all the verses to still be in the same place as last time... So I could begin to photographically memorize, my favorite bible version, in electronic format on my ipad

Please improve the search function. When I conduct a Bible search I often use a competitor's free app which allows a search by individual books.

Logos needs to set the standard or risk losing market share. I love Logos. Please keep making your products better. [:)]

Thanks Alabama, I agree in those instances it would be handy, but still doesn't make it to the top of the list for me, but have no objection if it was in the next release.

Searching is painful. I use a competitor’s product to search as well.

Aligning the verse to the top of the page is a must.

I would add the following requests.

1) Allow me to have saved workspaces like on the desktop. I have different ways of studying. If I am doing bible reading I will have the English on the top and the Greek on the bottom. If I am preparing a message I have the English on the top and a commentary on the bottom. If I'm reading Greek I will have the Greek on the top and BDAG on the bottom. There are more setups I like and it is a pain to have to open the appropriate books every time I want to switch my form of study. I should be able to set these up and quickly retrieve them.

2) Treat the commentaries as collections so I can move to a different book of the bible and the appropriate book of the commentary will open up.

I think a far more robust way to search is critical--limit it to books of the Bible or a range of books, for example.

Also, I would love to have highlights (not just notes) be linked across versions.

I would like to second this. It would be a definite help for me.

Overall, the iPad is fast replacing the laptop as the daily device most users go to. With the exception of hard core word processing and those type tasks (which is mostly confined to work use), I can do nearly all of my daily tasks using my iPad. Logos has done a great job thus far making the iPad app a better overall experience than the very limited capabilities of the iPhone but could go even further. I would like to see the ability to edit and create reading plans and a better interface for it (calendar views, etc). The Home Screen could look a lot better too on the iPad. Finally and one of the biggest, some of the books do not show on my iPad. I suppose it is a limitation of the publisher. Again, back to the laptop replacement comment, the iPad is no longer a mere "mobile" device like the iPhone.

That was how I did it when I carried an ink-and-paper Bible, but then I found I was paralyzed when I didn't have that Bible with me. That has actually been a benefit of not using a dead-tree Bible for a couple years now, I know my verses based on reference and context and not location on the page (I have to admit special highlights do help too).

I like the suggestions here. Would also like to add:

• A way to turn off verse numbers and heads and subheads.
It would be great if there was a way to have just the bible text and nothing else.

• Highlighting the way iBooks does it is extremely efficient and easy to use.
It would be great to implement something like that and keep notes and highlights
completely separate.

• The same homescreen that we have in Logos 4 would be great on the iPad.
The iPad lends itself to this kind of design better than the computer screen.

Perhaps the design of the iPhone app and the iPad app should be different. The real estate is completely different. The things that are possible on the iPad are not that conducive to the iPhone.

Is there way to edit the favorites? For example, I sometime categorize the bible verse by the topic that I am trying to remmber or trying to concentrate on. It seems like I can make one big list of bible verse. But it wouldn't let me categorize them, it would be so convient if I can pull it out when ever something pops up in my mind.

I second Kevin's assessment of the new iPad version. Great work!!

With the next batch of ideas, I still would like to be able to see a currently reading list and have the option of bookmarks within a particular book.

When I open the app, it either shows every book in my library which is numerous or whatever I searched for last. It would be great to have a current reading list of books that are tagged as being actively read. And finally with the bookmarks, the issue is that when I choose a reading plan entry, it opens at the first page of the reading day I choose. For example, if the reading plan says pages 100-125, it will open to page 100 when I click on the reading entry. But say something comes up and I stop reading. If I come back to it later at page 115 and read to 125, the option to mark the day complete is gone. Now of course the new ability to mark entries complete from the reading plan view will solve much of this, but it still would be helpful to have a bookmark option (much like Kindle does).

But I don't want to make it seem like I am complaining... version 3.0.0 just checked off most of my past requests for enhancements. Truly a great update.

David I really like your ideas, and thought I'd post a few of my own. I often like to use my ipod to look up things at church where I may not have my laptop or tablet with me. I think a few of these would make the Ipod app stronger.

Voice recording within notes (this one is kinda iffy, but it does help in a pinch for idea transfer in a hurry.
Being able to read your entire note file on the Ipod. I've never been able to read mine only add to it.
being able to split screen your notes with your bible would be nice. I see a split screen in the faithlife app which is very useful for running refferences. If that could be done for notes it would be awesome.

It's kind of funny that you posted this today. The app was updated yesterday and both of these features were added. I don't know the specs on your iPod… If it is new enough, these features should be available. Otherwise, you will have to wait until you update your hardware.

Hi Jeffery and welcome to the forums. On release 3 you can now view your entire notes file in the iPod (at least you can on the iPhone so I assume you can on the iPod). From the home screen click on the magnifying glass, swipe across to the fourth pane (documents) and you can view any notes file by tapping on it.

In the Bible Word Study I can tap on various sections of the translation ring to see the different words and locations in the Bible that the lemma is translated into. However as far as I know you can't perform a search to see them all at once, you can only do manuscript form searches. I would like a link within the Bible Word Study to perform a lemma search of all the inflected forms of the Greek or Hebrew in the default English Translation like we can do on the desktop. (BTW if someone knows how to do this or a feasible work around I would like to know it.)

I would love to see textual searches on the iPad. Not just the Bible, but the other ones (LXX, Philo, ect,).

I would like to add that a prayer list on my iphone/ipad that syncs with my computer would be awesome. I use that list daily and not having this feature is the only reason I travel with my laptop. It would also help me to be able to pray more effectively throughout the day on items I am committed to praying for. Yes, as the Spirit leads daily I do stop and pray for those things brought to mind. An example might be that every Monday I pray for certain neighbors to come to Christ.
