SR2 is seriously S---L---O---W with OS 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard)
Lots of spinning pizza! Not in loading, which is normal speed, but in changing tabs or changing verse references it is pedestrian – almost stationary. It hasn't been this slow since the early Alpha days.
Devs, vanish the spinning pizza and you get a slice of the action!!
Every blessing

Is this what I reported here BUG: L4 Mac 4.6 Beta 5—Spinning beachball ?
Mine seems to have improved a bit with the upgrade to Lion

That's exactly what I'm getting! I see you had the problem with the Beta. Surely it should be fixed for the SR! [:(]

Maybe it takes longer for the improvement to swim the Atlantic [:D]
When I made the posts in that thread, I was taking a lot of notes from many commentaries. Since then, I have mostly been turning the notes into a composition. Given that, perhaps the improvement comes from a change in the way I am using Logos.
Additionally, back then I had one commentary from each commentary collection open and synched together—That was seven commentaries plus a few Bibles. Since then, I just link a few Bibles, have three custom, unlinked PGs, and a large open area mid-screen to open a commentary. I cycle through the collection and open whatever other sets I believe will provide useful info on the passage in question.
That has likely done more to speed operations than anything else.

Alan, I'm running snow leopard and I am not getting the problems that you describe. I hope yours will be solved soon.

I presume this is the same issue that I reported Wednesday, without anyone noticing it: 4.6 SR-1: Performance way below unbearable -- beach ball after EVERY click or keystroke. I'm essentially dead in the water.

Looks like the same problem, but yours is much more severe. Hope L4 Mac dev is paying attention.

So do I, but given the complete lack of response, I doubt it. Ever since 4.6 shipped Logos' presence in the Mac forum has gone from bad to nearly non existent.

One cause for spinning pizza is swapping; am curious about page outs ? Wiki => http://wiki.logos.com/Mac_Troubleshooting#Slow_Performance includes a screen shot of Activity Monitor that shows System Memory and Page Outs.
Apologies: unable to replicate spinning pizza using Logos 4.6 SR-2 on Mac OS X 10.6.8 on a 27" iMac.

Concur swapping is not your issue; am wondering about sync lag times across the Atlantic Ocean, which could be tested by using a network proxy in Europe.
Edit: Wonder how offline performance of Logos 4.6 SR-2 compares ?

What would be the purpose of having an application with synching abilities and then using it disconnected from the cloud? The solution is better programming, not using the application in a crippled mode.

True, but it's a good diagnostic tool. I tried it, and as you can see in my thread, it was as bad offline as it was online. So, at least for me, syncing wasn't the issue after all (though no doubt it could be improved). Having read KS4J's posts I'm guessing he'll be as surprised at that as I am.
Now, if Alan gets the same result we won't be any wiser, but if his performance should turn out to be much better offline, then even I can figure out that we're likely to suffer from two different issues, however similar the symptoms are.

True, guess I misread the suggestion [:$] As a diagnostic tool, it would be good, but as an operational method, it would stink

Well, yes, but right now I'd prefer a 'stinking' operational method to an essentially non-functional one...

Surprise = yes; so know that swapping and long distance network lag times are not seriously S---L---O---W.
Seem to remember one Logos 4 Mac user improving performance by clearing history (Tools => History => Clear), which could be done periodically.
Personally have diagnostic logging always enabled, which also affects program execution. In theory should be able to turn off logging for a speed boost.

Alan, if you still have this issue, try clearing out History. It helped me.
KS4J, I thanked you on the other thread.

Count me as another very frustrated user! I don't write much on the forum, but I use Logos heaps...that is until now. I spend more time watching the beach ball than anything else. Maybe if Logos takes a break from trying to get us to buy more resources, and spends the time getting what we have working, I might be interested in buying more. But for now, it seems like money down the drain... a clogged drain!

Clearing out History has speeded things up. I'll just have to remember to do it from time to time! [^o)]

Yeah, our problems are obviously not important enough for Logos to notice...
