Updating Library Catalog seems "stuck"

Peace and Joy to my Logos Forums Brothers and Sisters,

This has been "popping up" now for the last couple of weeks that I remember.    It seems harmless enough, but ideally it should "finish" or "whatever," eh??

                   Any ideas???

Perhaps I have to rebuild my index!

BTW - am enthused and excited about Logos 5 .....

Great performance and have had no troubles in any shape or form!               *smile*

    Hi Milford

Does this appear for a short time and disappear or is it there all the time?

This will appear when you compile PBs, for example, but should disappear shortly afterwards.

I have seen this before… but only when Logos was indexing after a purchase (like the free Vyrso books). Are you sure you weren't indexing from something?

EDIT: I just grabbed a free Vyrso book to check and see… I am not getting that message during my indexing. Maybe you do need to rebuild your index. Let's see what others think. [:S]

Dave discovered this a few days ago, Milford. Unfortunately, he still hasn’t received a response that I can see.

    Peace, Graham!         *smile*

Just got back from a few errands and observed that (this problem) it has been showing for almost two hours now.  If I take out the entry (p) it does go away.  I'm thinking that it's the same problem Dave has in the thread mentioned.

Thank you, Graham!            AND all!    for your responses.     Will refer this thread to Dave's thread and keep an eye on that one!

Blessings, Scott!                    "By George, I think you've got it!"      Likely, Scott, this is the same issue.  Thanks for sharing that link with me!  *smile*  I am going to put a link to this thread on that thread and patiently wait until Dave is satisfied.  I have the greatest respect for him!           He is tenacious!          *smile*                "He won't let go until the sun sets!"

I have seen it in the past when I addeed tags to a number of books in one go (like when the "classic commentaries and studies" come through). It went away by itself, anyway I disregarded it since i knew I was changing the data. The message should probably warn you that if you tell Logos to e.g. tag some resources and then use this information in a filter immediately, maybe not all datasets are current.

Perhaps I have to rebuild my index!

I don't think so, unless the message stays persistent - then it's better to get some logs first and look for an issue. Especially since it's much faster to build the PB index or the bible index than the index over all of your books.

Thank you muchly, Mick!                 Your response is very much appreciated!              I've decided that I'm "going to do nothing"!  I will keep an eye on Dave Hooton's thread just to stay informed; however, my Logos 5 is working so smoothly and powerfully that I don't want to mess anything up!            *smile*

Also, you are so correct about the logs and the issue!      It's a lot easier to fix something whose symptoms are properly diagnosed!          Peace and Joy!

BTW, Toronto has a major Christmas Market this year in the Distillery District near the lake.  Are you attending one this year?

    Christmas market in Jena, Germany

A Christmas market, also known as Christkindlmarkt, Christkindlesmarkt, Christkindlmarket, and Weihnachtsmarkt, is a street market associated with the celebration of Christmas during the four weeks of Advent. These markets originated in Germany, Austria, South Tyrol and Alsace but are now being held in many other countries.

My town had a small Christmas Market last weekend and our church had a booth there where we sold some books, had a game for kids and handed out invitations to our services and other stuff. So I attended a Christmas Market, but for "work" (but it was nice) rather than for fun. Maybe we will visit one in another small town nearby next weekend.

The one's in the larger cities are very commercialized and typically much more crowded than your nice picture.

The workaround is to do something, though  e.g. change the rating (or tag) on a resource as that forces an index of the Library Catalog and the message in Library goes away.

It's definitely not a problem with the Resource indexes (Bible and Library). The Library Catalog contains all the metadata associated with your resources (like ratings, type, tags, author, title etc) and has its own index. And your Documents also have an index!
