Let's send it faster to production. It has languished long enough.

Thank you!

I can go to £30 (i.e. $50 approx) but not much more

So bid £30

How is it you get these emails. I have never received one like this.

If you get into your faith life profile you can select what type of emails you are sent out. It is important to elect special offers too since if that one is not selected you will not receive your Birthday gift certificate.

I just went and checked. For some reason on 12/26/13, I changed my bid from $30 to $90.  Anyway I do hope we can push this through.

I asked...no, pleaded...with Logos to do this years ago. I hope this makes a difference. But I don't see how it can unless they DELETE the current bid process and start from scratch. That way, they owe no one any explanations or apologies and it can start the process at the right price right from the start.

Since that doesn't appear what is happening, I suppose it will have to wait for another 15 years for this to make it into production. Highly disappointing.

Then you don't deserve this, plain and simple. This could be the most important encyclopedia offered by Logos.

What really grinds my gears about this is that this set has infinitely greater value than the silly Galatians commentary upgrade that boneheads bid up to $80 and eventually closed close to $50. That collection has far less than 0.000000001% of the value, usefulness, and utility than this entire encyclopedia set has. The Oxyrhyncus papyri closed at well over $100, and that doesn't even register as having any weight or value at all compared to this.

I would rather have this set than any Silver base package that Logos sells across the board.

I don't deserve it either.  So I've lowered my bid from $80 to $50. Wink

And I just cancelled my bid for Interpreter's... Stick out tongue I didn't really want it anyway, but some guy kept yammering about it so I placed a bid awhile back. With the money I save on that plus $20 I can get the Lutheran gold package.

jk...about cancelling...not about the price comparison.

I raised my bid to $70.

The bump at $70 is beginning to bulge a little bit, so maybe if more people in the $30 range raise their bids to $70 it would have a substantial effect.

Ok David, I looked at the product, the writeup, etc.  I can't see the value (at $70).  You must be seeing something that caused you to throw Ozy under the bus?

While everyone is watching the $70 bulge (an-ti-ci-pa-tion ....), consider the Logos writeup below.  'Editoritative'  I initially thought someone did a search/replace on authoritative.  So I googled 'editoritative'.  That led to some evil servers, some odd press search/replaces ... and then there's Logos.  Most curious is the upper-case 'E'.

I'm not saying everyone will see it...I don't see the value in the recent base packages that everyone is going nuts over, with all the Calvin, Luther, and papal bull. But I can say this: you will learn about things you've never heard of before. Granted, not all of it is Bible related. The encyclopedia covers "religion" and "ethics". But it includes some very interesting articles such as "Lock and Key", "Bene Israel" (about the community in Bombay, India that claims to be "children of Israel"), "Binding and Loosing", and other interesting topics. The key value in this set is that what it covers is typically covered in a much broader scope than you will find in nearly any other resource. Take, for instance, the subject head for "BODY" below...

...which, as you can see, approaches the subject from a variety of different cultures and perspectives. This will very likely provide you will research material you won't find elsewhere. Likewise for the heading "BULL" below...

...which provides info from cultural perspectives that are very germane to Biblical studies but are unlikely to be found elsewhere, especially in as condensed a form as is provided here. I will admit that some topics are hit-and-miss...but the hits are rich, detailed, and generally unreplicated elsewhere to the same depth and breadth, at least to my knowledge. If you have alternatives you think match what HERE offers, I'd like to know about them. There is more stuff on Buddhist and Hindu topics than I would prefer, but it is nevertheless all highly interesting and informative. Since my perspective is that all religious observance is derivative from Noah, I like to get rich nuggets of information that don't require too much time to acquire. I find that older resources, while obviously lacking in information "unearthed" in the last century of so, often have a depth and/or breadth that newer resources for whatever reasons don't seem to approach.

I am 1000% certain I will get my money's worth from this resources, and my bid is at the max. I happily placed my bid of approximately $250 when this was put on PrePub before being moved to CP. I bid on this a century ago (er, make that "last century" when they first offered this before L3 came out) before it was taken down for lack of interest. As has been pointed out, all the other Hastings titles are available or in production, and this is the only one remaining in CP limbo. At present this is one of the "most popular" CPs in terms of bids placed...the problem is that they completely torpedoed the bid chart by offering pricing incapable of sustaining the production costs. HERE has languages in it you've probably never seen before.

It is worth every penny of $70 and more in my opinion. It certainly is worth more than dozens upon dozens of things that have sold in Logos at the $50-$150 range.

well, nearly. https://www.logos.com/product/6374/a-dictionary-of-the-bible had crossed many months ago but was put back into CP limbo since someone at Logos had confused the 5-vol dictionary's production cost estimate with a one volume resource. This is the #1 bestselling resource on CP and at 60%.

I don't know if large multivolume dictionaries from the public domain ever have a chance to see the light, unless Logos decides to put them into a base package. For whatever reason they didn't include the Catholic encylopedia in Verbum, and unless this changes I'm pessimistic about seeing this produced by Logos. Trailing HERE as the #3 bestselling resource it is currently at only 30% production cost estimate.
