I am grateful for the Forum especailly for those who take their preciouse time to help such as like me,but sometimes I see the Forums are not used for the very reason they are intended to. What has with "What books did Joel Osteen read?" to do? First of all we don't have to judge. If we see there is something wrong with him the Forum is not the right place to comment on ministers or somesthing which has  to do with them.Instead of giving more time on such things ,please let us use the Forum to help to learn how we could use the software for our Bible study.

Blessings in Christ.

Tes, I agree 100%. Leave the debate to groups on Faithlife. Is that not part of the reasons why it was created?

THANK YOU!

That's exactly what I was thinking! Who cares about Joel Osteen anyway (except those who don't like Scripture in a sermon only motivational speaking and bed time stories).  He's not even in Logos.  This search summarizes it (Joel who?) So don't ask for forgiveness, because whether people like it or not, you are right, he's not part of Logos and therefore should not be even mentioned here, as this is not the place to inquire about him.  He's got a website and a google search will give you lots of information on him.  But you are right, what do the books he reads have anything to do with OUR forum and OUR software...Exactly, nothing! Thank you Tes for having the courage of pointing this out.  Hopefully nobody will start labeling  you as "the problem maker" because that's usually what you get when people "feel offended" by the truth.  By the way, sorry for my crappy underlining, but notice the "Please try browsing OUR products" section in the Logos website picture:

I think the person who was asking this was a fan and had no judgements against this person. I think you was just reading bad intentions into his post.

I don't think your line was directed at me, but just in case, I didn't judge the poor fellow.  In fact, I even contributed in a positive way in the O.P.'s thread.  As far as Osteen goes I could care less about him, but all I can say is "Prove all things, holdfast that which is good" (1 Thes. 5:21).

Sorry kiddos ... I don't watch him (nor anyone else for that matter).  But the first few centuries of the church didn't have Bible thumpers either.   They had to get the job done with 'stories'.  Or what appear to be 'say this!'.

I'm not an expert on sermon-ing, but sermon-ers wouldn't be so jealous of successful presenters if the presenters were not successful.  The Qumranites called them the 'smoothies'.  Of course the Qumranites didn't appear to be overflowing with applicants (though they Bible-thumped with wild abandon).

Good morning, Tes!

What is it with you and "the smoothies" lately.  You've been mentioning them a lot.  Ah, I know, summer time is just around the corner, at least here in Florida. Beer<~~ a smoothie Stick out tongue

Gee, DAL ... we're not supposed to discuss theology.  But the reference speaks to my beliefs, let's say.

I read the OP post concerning Joel Osteen as just a question of curiosity, nothing more, nothing less. I have had similar questions about what software do they use? What is their library look like? what are their reading habits? What books do they read? etc. The questions was just not important enough for me to post a question on it. Just curiosity, nothing more, nothing less.

I suspect that Logos tolerates a little bit of OT discussion (like this thread?) because (just a guess) it raises interest in the forums. Obviously they can't let things get out of hand, and so we see them cutting threads off that are going down the inquisition road.

We all enjoy* the software and like to talk about it, but that's not the only thing we have in common. There is an underlying common ground we share, and many of the Logos users on the forums are teachers and feel led to let it out. In other words, you simply won't be able to avoid all the OT posts and the theological expressiveness. It's part of who we are. Big Smile

*define enjoy however you'd like

From my observation over the years Logos has a lot of tolerance which I think is appropriate.

Yes It would be difficult to be overly critical on this forum and still have a forum of this type.

My observation is that generally the post starts out ok, but soon gets out of hand with responses unrelated to the original question/issue. Smile
