Nope.  I'm eyeing it as a distant shore I'll never reach. ;-)

Hmm Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

Nope. I looked over the offering and there is nothing I have to have. Besides I don't have the money!

Now when I look over my Wishlist, Prepub and CP items …

I'm eying it as a destination I don't want to visit. Portfolio is the same sort of thing for me.

An upgrade to CE would be over $4,000 for me. I am sure I can find better ways to spend $4,000 than on CE.

I had always wanted the Anchor Yale Bible (heaven knows why), with Collectors I got those volumes for only $100 more than just the cost of that one collection.

Absolutely! Bookaholics never stop, we just keep buying. Pretty soon my clubs are going up for sale. Should get a pretty penny for them, then Collectors here I come. In the mean time my new acquisition of Portfolio is keeping the demons at bay.

Collectors has been a great addition, for the one day I have owned it.

There are a number of things I would like to own in collectors - more than the cost.

Many of which are also on my wishlist.

However, it is still a bit pricey for me personally (2300$) if cheaper than the titles I want individually.

Maybe in a few months, or a year, the financials will look a little different.

Not even one bit. In fact, I find it distasteful to think I'd spend that much money on myself.

My thanks to the various MVPs. Without them Logos would have died early. They were the only real help available.

Faithlife Corp. owes the MVPs free resources for life.

Cars, houses, insurance, entertainment, all these are budgets that likely exceed 2300$ for many people (and possibly your upgrade price as well).

Better to spend 2300$ on something that will better equip me to glorify the Lord, than on movies, cable tv, or a variety of other things that can be considered "entertainment".

After they fixed the website  I took the plunge. indexing now.

I regret not getting it before they pulled the Princeton Theological Review and the Josephus Collection. Then I noticed the Josephus Collection is included in the Master Bundle XL so I grabbed it too.

Ahhh, the age-old question of how much is enough and at what point does it becomes sinful. I've resigned myself to believing that there is no universal answer. Each of us bears the responsibility of submitting to the promptings of the Holy Spirit when we are told to stop. The key is not supposing that one's own limit is in fact the limit that the Holy Spirit might be directing another to follow. I'd imagine that you could find someone that thinks even paying $300 for Starter is distasteful when that could pay for feeding a Compassion child for nearly a year. I'm glad to hear that you've heard and submitted to the Holy Spirit...that is a great gift and such submission can only bring you blessings!

Josephus was pulled?

I took screen grabs of everything I was supposed to get. Making me wonder if I shouldn't go through and compare the two.

I looked at it with green eyes.  Then had to check my heart and motives.  My wife helps with that.

If there is a real need for study to teach others, or for research, then it may be justifiable.  To spend the money just to build a huge library....well that is a lot of money, and $100, not mention $5,000 goes incredibly far to clothe orphans in India and to feed street children in Surabaya.  It goes a long way to get a pair of used glasses with one working lens to an Asian villager, or to buy medicine to lessen headaches of a Sister who suffers migraines ($1/month) yet spends the day in a secret church praying - sometimes for Western Christians to send more workers into the harvest.

Invest conscientiously.

I've been trying to work my way up to Portfolio for a few years now. Now I have a new target. ;) I hope to own CE someday, maybe by 2017 if it still exists then. As for stewardship, so far I never used anything as much as my Logos library. I use it for preaching, academic scholarship, and personal devotion and study. Although I'll never read every book in my Logos library. I use each book every time I click the search button. For me, Logos has been one of the best investments I've ever made and if I had the money right now to by CE, I would.

I agree. After the Lord delivered my from my cigarette habit 10 years ago, I now can invest that money in Logos, which helps me in both school and ministry.

However, I may never afford Collector's Edition.

Different people, different priorities. Personally, I don't have cable TV either, or a car (I take the subway everywhere). Thus I don't have to pay for gas or other maintenance fees.

The only way CE would be appealing is if they allowed you to customize it with the resources you want.  So far, I'm happy with my Platinum edition.  I'm also glad they brought back top notch commentaries like PNTC, JPS Tanahk, NIGTC and put them in the Platinum BP.  JPS Tanahk was a set that only came in Portfolio so it's good they upped the quality of resources for Platinum.  L5 Platinum did not live up to the name "Platinum" but now with L6 it does!

I guess you can safely say that Eerdmans Publishing Co. it the one that has the best connection with Logos/Faithlife relationship wise.  I'm glad to see several of their materials being offered in the base packages.  Meanwhile, Zondervan and Baker can continue their arrogant ploy of not allowing their best scholarship be included in base packages and also not allowing much discounts on their resources.  Sad they have that attitude!

DAL, with 1949 forum posts, you have surely answered this somewhere before, but I am quite curious: why all bold for your posts?
