Is anyone else eyeing the Collector's Edition with both envy and regret?
Nope. I'm eyeing it as a distant shore I'll never reach. ;-)
Nope. I looked over the offering and there is nothing I have to have. Besides I don't have the money!
Now when I look over my Wishlist, Prepub and CP items …

I'm eying it as a destination I don't want to visit. Portfolio is the same sort of thing for me.
An upgrade to CE would be over $4,000 for me. I am sure I can find better ways to spend $4,000 than on CE.
I'm very happy with it.
I had always wanted the Anchor Yale Bible (heaven knows why), with Collectors I got those volumes for only $100 more than just the cost of that one collection.
Absolutely! Bookaholics never stop, we just keep buying. Pretty soon my clubs are going up for sale. Should get a pretty penny for them, then Collectors here I come. In the mean time my new acquisition of Portfolio is keeping the demons at bay.
I am happy as well!![H]
There are a number of things I would like to own in collectors - more than the cost. Many of which are also on my wishlist. However, it is still a bit pricey for me personally (2300$) if cheaper than the titles I want individually. Maybe in a few months, or a year, the financials will look a little different.
Not even one bit. In fact, I find it distasteful to think I'd spend that much money on myself.

I regret not getting it before they pulled the Princeton Theological Review and the Josephus Collection. Then I noticed the Josephus Collection is included in the Master Bundle XL so I grabbed it too.
Ahhh, the age-old question of how much is enough and at what point does it becomes sinful. I've resigned myself to believing that there is no universal answer. Each of us bears the responsibility of submitting to the promptings of the Holy Spirit when we are told to stop. The key is not supposing that one's own limit is in fact the limit that the Holy Spirit might be directing another to follow. I'd imagine that you could find someone that thinks even paying $300 for Starter is distasteful when that could pay for feeding a Compassion child for nearly a year. I'm glad to hear that you've heard and submitted to the Holy Spirit...that is a great gift and such submission can only bring you blessings!

I looked at it with green eyes. Then had to check my heart and motives. My wife helps with that.
If there is a real need for study to teach others, or for research, then it may be justifiable. To spend the money just to build a huge library....well that is a lot of money, and $100, not mention $5,000 goes incredibly far to clothe orphans in India and to feed street children in Surabaya. It goes a long way to get a pair of used glasses with one working lens to an Asian villager, or to buy medicine to lessen headaches of a Sister who suffers migraines ($1/month) yet spends the day in a secret church praying - sometimes for Western Christians to send more workers into the harvest.
Invest conscientiously.
I've been trying to work my way up to Portfolio for a few years now. Now I have a new target. I hope to own CE someday, maybe by 2017 if it still exists then. As for stewardship, so far I never used anything as much as my Logos library. I use it for preaching, academic scholarship, and personal devotion and study. Although I'll never read every book in my Logos library. I use each book every time I click the search button. For me, Logos has been one of the best investments I've ever made and if I had the money right now to by CE, I would.
Is anyone else eyeing the Collector's Edition with both envy and regret? Not even one bit. In fact, I find it distasteful to think I'd spend that much money on myself. Cars, houses, insurance, entertainment, all these are budgets that likely exceed 2300$ for many people (and possibly your upgrade price as well). Better to spend 2300$ on something that will better equip me to glorify the Lord, than on movies, cable tv, or a variety of other things that can be considered "entertainment".
I agree. After the Lord delivered my from my cigarette habit 10 years ago, I now can invest that money in Logos, which helps me in both school and ministry.
However, I may never afford Collector's Edition.
Different people, different priorities. Personally, I don't have cable TV either, or a car (I take the subway everywhere). Thus I don't have to pay for gas or other maintenance fees.
The only way CE would be appealing is if they allowed you to customize it with the resources you want. So far, I'm happy with my Platinum edition. I'm also glad they brought back top notch commentaries like PNTC, JPS Tanahk, NIGTC and put them in the Platinum BP. JPS Tanahk was a set that only came in Portfolio so it's good they upped the quality of resources for Platinum. L5 Platinum did not live up to the name "Platinum" but now with L6 it does!
I guess you can safely say that Eerdmans Publishing Co. it the one that has the best connection with Logos/Faithlife relationship wise. I'm glad to see several of their materials being offered in the base packages. Meanwhile, Zondervan and Baker can continue their arrogant ploy of not allowing their best scholarship be included in base packages and also not allowing much discounts on their resources. Sad they have that attitude!

DAL, with 1949 forum posts, you have surely answered this somewhere before, but I am quite curious: why all bold for your posts?

I have never answered that question here, even with my now 1950 posts LOL...well, BOLD helps others to read it better? LOL I don't know, I guess I like the way it accentuates on the screen for better readability. Easier on my eyes too.
May I suggest stronger glasses...

Bold is scary, but not as scary as ALL CAPS or as terrifying as, ALL CAPS BOLD!
Bold is confident-BOLD! Unbold is elegant. what is no caps and no bold at all? weak? humble?
Hmm. Funny. I have always interpreted bold as talking really loud. Not SHOUTING, just talking loud.
I hope those who bought it are blessed by the package. Enjoy.

Amen to that. I got Portfolio 6 and Verbum 6. Had AYB for a while before. Collector's Edition will be in my sights in the next few months for sure, followed by the Master Bundle XL.
Cheers
What do you think of ayb?
I use it all the time and enjoy the ecumenical approach to scholarship it provides. I also thoroughly enjoy the insight gained from Hermeneia as well. Hermeneia is more critical. Both are vast in scope, and Hermeneia even has two books on Enoch. Not many commentaries have Enoch. I know you enjoy the academic side of things like me Abondservant. I'd get it.
Then I noticed the Josephus Collection is included in the Master Bundle XL so I grabbed it too.
Shhhh.... Don't tell them or they might pull it from there too.
BTW, how did you manage to buy Master Bundle XL? All I can find is one called "Master Bundle XL (International)." There was no Add to Cart or Quick Buy button on that page for me (and I don't own it yet), even though I'm in Canada so I'm an International customer and should be able to buy such a thing:
Also the other weird thing is that in the right column, it shows that this "International" version of the bundle is contained within the Master Bundle XL, but when I click on the latter, it just takes me back to the same page I'm looking at, with no buttons to purchase it.
[:D]
ou manage to buy Master Bundle XL? All I can find is one called "Master Bundle XL (International).
I have had the same problem, but am able to purchase via this link (or at least I am able to see the 'add to cart' button),
https://www.logos.com/bundles
Does this work for you?

Nope, the "Add to Cart" button doesn't do anything. And anyway, it costs $5,089.95 and I'm not going to spend that kind of money for it. I suspect dynamic pricing isn't being factored in, and this just has "broken" written all over it. I don't have time to report it through the appropriate channels. Going to bed now, and offline for the weekend.
Pretty sure I will purchase this in the next few days after all the mistakes, misprints and dynamic pricing issues are resolved. I want the The International Critical Commentary, and Anchor Yale Bible.
I also thoroughly enjoy the insight gained from Hermeneia as well.
For those who don't want to pay quite that much, the cheaper option is the Ancient Texts and Translations Bundle XL.
I have never answered that question here, even with my now 1950 posts LOL...well, BOLD helps others to read it better?
Perhaps for those who have really bad eyes. For most of us (even me, who have fairly bad eyes by now), I would think it makes is harder. While the bold makes the text as a whole stand out better from the background, it also makes the individual letters stand out less from each other, so it demands much more effort to read. I for one would appreciate if you abandoned it.
"Master Bundle XL (International)." There was no Add to Cart or Quick Buy button on that page
That's the same bug as for the Catholic bundles. I'll add it to the thread I've already got going.

Hi Rosie and all,
I have the same problem as you do and I live in British Columbia Canada as well. What is really strange is that I don't see any resource differences between the "Master Bundle XL" and the international version of this bundle the "Master Bundle XL (International)". I did a quick snapshot of the resources on each page and both have 1,707 resources listed. I then just used MS-Excel to perform a comparison between the two resource lists and there is not a single "false" value returned between the non-International and International lists (1,707 True, 0 False).
I had assumed that some of the resources in the "Master Bundle XL" must be different based on USA versus non-USA licensing restrictions. Unless the Logos website is picking up my IP address and determining that I am coming in from a non-USA based IP address and displaying the International version of the Master Bundle XL regardless of which I choose. Both the "Master Bundle XL" and Master Bundle XL (International) also seem to share the same website link, which is www.logos.com/product/46259/master-bundle-xl. Has anyone else who is interested in this product determined what the resource differences between the two non-International and International versions are?
Wayne
The difference is the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
Thank-you for the information. That is interesting because this resource is listed on both the "Master Bundle XL" and the "Master Bundle XL (International)" pages. Considering the Catechism of the Catholic Church is "only available to customers living in the United States, its territories, and Canada" it would appear that its inclusion in the International version of the Master Bundle XL would be incorrect for all international locations except Canada.
I might have considered the Collector's Edition back around the time I was sweetly talked into Portfolio, but even then that was a real stretch to do. If I had a whole bunch of letters after my name and a position to afford it, sure.
Considering how blessed I've been, that's enough to weep joyously.
