Making notes can use a lot of repeated words and phrases. What  if Logos provided a text-expander option so that users could enter their own shortcuts for words and phrases that they use regularly? This could speed up the process of entering notes.

I would like to see a "Search Wizard" where you answer simple questions about the type of search and what you are looking for and where. the Wizard then constructs it and launches it for you.

Also I would like to see Personal Books accepted when in searchable PDF format without conversion to docx.

Auto spell check on everything similar to google.

I already have TextExpander which works across all applications. I'm not sure I really want Faithlife trying to add this sort of functionality to Logos: it will make it more bloated, and I already have TextExpander set up to cover frequently-used phrases. If I'm using Textexpander it works in Word, Excel, my calendar, Logos, the forums in my browser and every other application on my Mac. I'd like to see Faithlife focusing on what it's good at, rather than making copies of other applications which they will then have to maintain and develop further.

Thanks for your reply, Greg. Being PC based I have yet to find a reliable text expander (although I expect there will be plenty of people who will give me some good suggestions).

Make pop-up windows for reference links large enough to display the entire reference--allow scrolling within the pop-up window if necessary.

I've always been frustrated by the small size of the pop up windows for reference links--especially scripture reference links.  They're often too small to show the entire reference, even though there is plenty of room on the screen for a pop-up window that is large enough to show the entire reference.  This often make checking a reference a three step process:

  1. Hover over the link only to find the pop-up window is too small to display it all.
  2. Click on the link to open the reference in another tab (which usually opens in a different pane.)
  3. Click on the original resource tab that contained the link, so you can return to that resource.

It really interrupts the work-flow.

Well, those are some good suggestions, Rick, about the size of the pop-up windows, but I would like to see customization options for those pop-ups.  Not everyone wants "big" pop-up windows and not everyone wants "small" pop-up windows.  So it would be nice if we could have the option to re-size those pop-ups (small, medium, large, huge) as our default and a "zoom" feature in case we change our mind on a particular resource in the moment (like a <ctrl + middle mouse wheel> and then letting it return to our customized default size).

Yes, I was thinking along those lines as well, but doubted the likelihood of it making it into 7 if it became too complicated, so I left it as bare bones as possible.  For me, it would be a big step forward even if the only change was to make the entire reference available in the pop-up window via a scrolling capability--one of the thoughts mentioned in my previous post.

I'm wondering though if this thread is going to be perused by Faithlife for possible version 7 enhancements, or if we need to be posting individual User Voice topics.

I second (or third) being able to import PDF/mobi/ePub into personal collections.  It is BEYOND me why this is not already implemented, but I'm sure there were good reasons.

Do love this suggestion in its overall point and in its details.

We can keep from derailing this collection by discussing details here.

I would love a night mode that would invert all black/white/& gray scale, yet retain all other existing colors. This would allow color coded note icons to still be recognizable, and images to still be viewed.

Logos wiki => Night Mode includes Negative Screen link, which has Smart Color Alt 1 +alt+F3 (with High color saturation) on Windows 7

Normal Color for comparison:

UserVoice suggestion => black background includes comment from Faithlife:

See https://wiki.logos.com/Night_Mode for ways to invert the colors on your PC/Mac, including Logos 6

In the concordance took, I would like to see:

1. ability to choose collections, instead of individual resources

2. ability to export the full result, like being able to export a search result

Best,

James

I would love to see a Devotions section in the passage guide that functions exactly like the "Sermons" tool.

I would like an easy way of enabling/disabling the principal things that slow Verbum/Logos down. An easily accessible new menu that lists them and includes toggle switches would probably do the trick. This could go along with having options to disable some things that right now can't be disabled that some real portion of Verbum/Logos users don't need at least a good part of the time.

Being able to set a persisting default for what sections of particular Guides start off as open (rather than each Guide necessarily automatically starting with all of the sections open that were open when it was last closed) would be nice.

Options/controls for what resources will open where (as discussed repeatedly in the forums) would be great. I especially want to be able to switch the default opening side for a new resource being added to a blank layout to the left.

The ability to create fine-grained auto-saving layouts would be very helpful. I want to be able to create, say, a ResearchProjectX layout that updates itself while I use it, so that I can exit it, close Verbum, or turn off my computer on the fly without having to worry about saving the layout manually all the time. I also want a Close Active Layout button in my shortcut bar, which doesn't seem to be possible.

The History pane would be more useful if there was an option for it to show me more information.

I would like the ability to have a pop up window display Bible verses which are referenced OUTSIDE the program, such as in PDFs, ebooks, or virtually anything for that matter. This exists in a freeware, so I'd assume it can't be that difficult (I could be wrong). All you have to do is simply highlight a section of text that contains Bible references, press Ctrl-C and the popup comes up with the list of passages in it.  It's great, but it's the only thing I use that freeware for and think others would appreciate it in Logos 7.
