Logos 4 Mac Alpha 19.1 Release Notes
Updated Release Notes for Alpha 19.1
The app should auto update, but you can always download the latest
release from: http://www.logos.com/logos4mac
This is primarily a bug fix release for Alpha 19. This release should not require a full reindex. Partial indexing may be required if you have resources that were missing.
Fixes:
- Fixed display issue for resources which were updated on 4-28-2010 (ESV, NASB95, LXX, etc)
- Fixed failure to start Logos4 when running on battery power. Indexing will only pause if actually indexing work needs to be done by the indexer.
- Status bar text in the main window is now fixed when hovering over text in resources with reverse interlinear support.
- Fixed a bug in the indexer which caused resources to be downloaded but never installed.
- Fixed a hang when closing Cited By Panel
- Fixes Verses and Aligned views in Bible Search
- Updates for Morph Builder in Morph Search
Features:
Basic highlighting support
Styles are visible in the Highlighting panel. Highlighting can be applied by highlighting text and clicking on a style name or by pressing "Cmd+K" to apply the currently selected style. Highlighting can be erased by selected text and clicking "Erase" in the highlighting panel or by pressing "Cmd+Shift+K".
Known Issues: Currently selected style is not indicated in the highlighting panel. Previews of highlighting styles are not implemented yet. New highlighting styles and palettes cannot be created on Mac yet, although they will sync correctly from Windows.
Common Questions:
Q: Why is this called Alpha 19.1 instead of Alpha 19a like previous interim-Alpha releases?
A: Often users of the forums will abbreviate "Alpha xx" releases as Axx, e.g. A19. Abbreviating A19.1 is hopefully a bit more clear than A19a.
Q: Does Alpha 19.1 require reindexing?
A: This release should not require a full reindex. Partial indexing may be required if you have resources that were missing.

Hi Tom,
After we install 19.1, are we all supposed to run "rebuild index" (a la http://community.logos.com/forums/t/16517.aspx)?

Nope.

Thanks so much for releasing highlight! Everyone was waiting for this exciting addition.
Quick question, highlighting is...... S.... L...... O..... W..... After I make a highlight, it takes a literal 14 seconds for it to show up.
Is this just because highlighting is in the early stages and needs some cleaning up in the code or is there something else going on.
No my machine is not indexing and yes, I have plenty of RAM and CPU.
Thanks for all your hard work on this program and in advance for your reply.

I, too, am thrilled with highlighting. I don't run the Windows version, so this is my very first time to tinker with it. So many possibilities!! I love it.
Also, for whatever reason, I am not having any delay in the highlighting appearing. It is almost instant, for me at least.

Thanks for the highlighting! Great Stuff!
Quick Question: What happened to using the SPACE bar to move text? I miss that.
Thanks for the work everybody.

Updates on further testing. Highlighting is instant on a new unmarked book. Highlighting is slow on my ESV Bible which has LOTS of highlights in it.

Just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU!!!
Being a Mac only user I have been doing Highlighting on paper with pens and this is so much better. Love it. Keep up the great work.

Hey hey... loving the Highlight Feature... When I tried to use the add new line before and after, I had a crash which seems to happen every time I use that particular type of Highlight. Several other types of highlighting worked flawlessly.
Wondering if there is a way to search for particular highlights. It seems that would be a HUGE feature.
Blessings,
John

Another item I noticed, every times I start 19.1 it downloads a 77.6 meg file. Apparently something is getting caught and not completed.
Any suggestions? Any other users with similar experiences.
I say this all while celebrating the birth of highlighting to the mac platform!

Hi Kurt,
The same thing is happening to me but with a much smaller download (120Kb)....
It appears that others are experiencing the same issue (e.g., http://community.logos.com/forums/t/16643.aspx)
I've experienced this with previous updates, so I tried merge index and then rebuild index, both of which have solved the problem in the past. Neither one worked this time. Maybe there's a different sort of bug this time around.

Alpha 19 would not allow me to search in Bible texts. 19.1 fixed that problem on my office computer, but not at home. Do I need to empty a cache or something? Can't figure why it would work one way on one computer and not on the other.

It didn't fix it on my MacBook Pro either.

Kurt:
Try deleting the following files and see if the download stops.
updates.db--UserFolder/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Data/uniquefolder/UpdateManager/updates.db
downloadmanager.db--UserFolder/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Data/uniquefolder/DownloadManager/DownloadManager.db
Paul & R.Mansfield:
Could the tow of you post logs of what you are experiencing and what you are search/where? I want to try to reproduce, and in order to create a log the more info I have about what you are doing to get to where you are getting the better for the dev analyzing the log file.

Thank you for the highlighting pen and stuff!! But it is an awful waste of screen space for text names, um, some icons or right click gui for highlighting to be more intuitive??? or is the Windows much more refined??

Windows actually shows you previews of the styles. We haven't implemented that yet. It's on the list. As with all the other Alpha features, we wanted to get something for people to use that's minimally viable while we flesh out all the functionality.

I tried deleting the files you mentioned but didn't have any success in getting rid of the 77.6 meg download
I created a log report but this site won't let me send it to you. Every time I click the paper clip nothing happens. I tried replying to this post and creating a new post but the paperclip doesn't bring up a popup allowing me to attach anything.
Did you turn off the popup on that paperclip icon?
I have log files ready to go. Let me know how I can get them to you.
Thanks for working on this debug!

In reference to the problem above related to inability to search with Alpha 19.1, I have discovered that when I allowed the program to reindex completely, the ability to search was restored. Problem fixed!

Installed 19.1 and I'm having semi-eternal "indexing" issues. Mousing over the the indexing icon suggests that I have 976 more hours of indexing ahead of me. Literally five minutes ago it said "749 hours". Last night it varied between 740 hours and 1400 hours!! I'm basically letting it run in background all the time right now in hopes that it might actually resolve itself. Anyone know what's happening? (Is the solution something like "Wait for Alpha 20?")

Hi GPK
It would be a good idea to post this in a new thread, tagging it on the bottom of this disparate thread is unlikely to attract much attention.
If you search the forum you will find instructions for opening the logging display to see if the indexer is actually doing anything. Remember it is important not to let your processor go to sleep during the indexing process.
It would also help if you gave us information about the computer - type, memory and proportion of hard disc already full often helps.
If it turns out that the indexer has crashed then you should post logs.

Sorry Mike.. (Rookie mistake.) I'll try and repost elsewhere (now my MacBook Pro with 2.53 ghz/ Intel Core 2 Duo with 4gb mem is predicting 1402 hours).

Question: In previous editions, Scripture would display in paragraphs (NIV). Now each verse appears in a separate, distinct paragraph. Any way I can get the display to return to the normal paragraph style (instead of separating the verses from one another)?

I refer the answer I gave earlier.
In fact two posts up[:D]However try clicking on the 'Ven' Icon beside the scripture reference and selecting another option.
