How do I change the Star Ratings?

I am looking at the library pane.

On the RHS I can see the info' of the first resource in the list.

I can change the stars of that resource.

When I click on another resource in the library pane, the 'info' does not change with my new selection. i.e. it still shows the first item that I had selected?!

If I multiple select resources, the 'info' panel does not seem to reflect this. Changing the stars in the info panel (single or multiple selection) does not seem to be reflected in the main library list.

The stars in the library list itself seem to be clickable (which would be consistent with other software) but they seem to have no effect. The resource is still showing no stars!

I am currently using RC3. I cannot believe tat this is a bug (to big not to have been spotted) so what am I doing wrong?

BTW. Is anybody else having trouble downloading 694Mb of resources? Mine creeps along slowly and then the icon disappears at some point. Restarting L4 starts at 1% again! I have seen it as high as 40%

I'm not a Mac user, but it sounds odd to me. On the Windows version, doing exactly what you're describing will change the star rating and it's reflected in the Library list. The info panel will update when you select a different item in the Library pane. If you select multiple items in the Library pane, it shows a simplified info pane on the RHS which doesn't tell you what the current info is (as it could be different for multiple items); it only lets you change the star rating and/or add tags for all selected items at once (you can't edit any of the existing tags):

You can undo before committing the changes if you click on the Revert button down at the bottom of the info panel (which only shows up once you've made any changes):

But once you select a different item(s) in the Library list, the opportunity to revert all those changes is gone.

I'm not sure if they were intending to have all of this fully functional in L4 Mac, but it seems like pretty basic functionality to me. At the very least clicking on a different item in the Library list should update the info panel accordingly. If it's not, it might have been something that got broken recently, as you're right, it does seem too obvious not to have been caught before.

A bit more meat on the bones ...

The update resource is still stopping unexpectedly (40% through -ish). Restarting the computer and trying again does not help. It has failed consistently 7 or 8 times. It always starts when launching the App.

I think I can consistently stop the ratings from recording and the info panel updating.

Open the library in a floating window (I have not tried other displays)

Expand and scroll to find the ratings column

click on the ratings column to sort

click again to reverse the sort (items with no rating are now on top)

select the top item in the list (Targum Jonathan to the Prophets for me at the moment)

Try clicking on any other item and the info window does not change.

Multiple selection does not change the info panel to the distinctive multi-select options.

If I open the library without sorting by rating then everything works as it should.

I have attached logs. They include a crash.txt file that was also generated at some point during the last session but I could not say what crashed ... the download or the library since the app continued to work normally in all other senses. Even the mis-behaving library closed gracefully and normally.

Are you on a Wifi network? We've seen problems where some routers have problems disconnecting when you pull a large file through the router.

It looks like it tries and fails at 7 minutes, 9 minutes or 13 minutes.

Yes I am.

Macbook pro connected to a 2 month old Time Capsule upstairs. No other apps are reporting issues (but probably means little). The signal strength icon sat the top shows the usual four solid bars.

iStumbler is showing this, but I have no idea how to interpret it, I just use it to look at the channels used in the area!

Can you do me a favor and leave Logos 4 running while the indexer is downloading and see if that helps? The indexer shouldn't stop downloading because Logos 4 stops, so that could be a bug. It doesn't seem like there was an error in the download, just that the indexer decided to cancel what it was doing. I'll file a bug to look into the indexer behavior of downloading w/o Logos 4 running.

I will fire up Logos and leave it going while I am out today and post the logs this evening.

Hi.

I am still having trouble downloading this update (420Mb worth).

Since Sept. there have been new versions but these have not fixed it.

There have been new resources that have downloaded.

Every time I load L4Mac, I am it informs me that there are updates available. When I click to download them the download process starts for 422.3 Mb. It will stop at some un-specified point.

It has recently downloaded, for example, the two pillar commentaries. I cannot remember what the numbers were in terms of how much it set out to download but, as it has on a daily basis, it stopped mid-flow. The good news is that the new resources had been downloaded before the stop.

Are there any files that I might delete or modify to get around this blockage? I am reluctant to propose a full re-install, partly because of download issues and partly because that will simply bury the issue rather than identify it.

BTW. Whilst writing this I have given it another go. I am monitoring the icon. It seems very slow still. It has been on 6% for a couple of minutes. Then it restarts and we're back to 5% and counting. This time stop at 17%. Here we go again ... stop at 13% this time. I have seen it as high as 95% in the past ... such giddy heights of expectation!

I have taken my Mac into work.

I am online. Everything seems to work for all applications except L4Mac.

I know this is probably a different issue but in trying a work around (different connection) it seems to have thrown up something else.

Why would the download not get past 0% when at work?

I am able to logon to the Logos servers at work (i.e. I am not forced to work offline). I am able to sync my data (at least no error is reported), it is only the downloading of data that seems to fail completely.

Noticed some parallels messages in Console Messages - wonder about Logos 4 PC file ? (workaround)

Windows 7 path => C:\Users\<userid>\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\<random>\ResourceManager\Resources\BiblicalPlacesMaps.lbsmps

If Logos 4 PC has 442 MB file (with update on or after 14 Sep), could copy to location shared with Mac OS X, Launch Logos 4 Mac, and use scan path command.

Curiosity question: available free space on hard drive ?

Dreaming: Logos 4 resource download manager that could resume partial file download(s), especially for large files.

That has nailed it.

I removed the file from the mac resources and used scan to get it from the PC image.

I knew it was not a space issue (200Gb free).

It seems strange that the same computer could repeatedly fail to download a resource on the Mac side and yet do so without issue on the PC side under Parallels.

I still wonder what blocks the download process on the mac at work when all other apps (inc. Sugasync and Dropbox) are happy to download at work as indeed does my work laptop (Windows L4 is there for lunchtimes and quite happily downloads resources across the same network).
