Serious Problems with Text Comparison
I have used the PC version for years and switched to the Mac last night. When I woke up today, I am having a serious problem:
When I search a passage on the home screen, say John 3:16-18, the passage comes up in one of my boxes on the lower right hand corner of the screen - the "text comparison." I then flow the panel and re-search to include "Jason's Top Translations," a collection of 22 Bible versions I use each week in sermon prep. I am able to get this done, but when the versions all pop up with the corresponding text, I am NOT able to highlight the text from whichever verse/version I want to copy into that week's sermon outline/bulletin. I called tech support this morning and was told that my best option was to use these forums to try and get the attention of a developer. Are you serious? I've got about $5,000 invested in this program and I can't cut and paste? And when I call for support, I'm given numerous "workarounds" and then told to "check the forums" and "check the online videos" because "we don't offer training over the phone." I'm sorry if I sound angry here, but I am. Being able to cut and paste is a simple function, and after being a customer for years who has spent thousands, I'm told, "Sorry, we can't talk to you anymore - try the forums?" Wow. I have used this cut and paste "feature" for years in doing my sermon bulletin prep and am now completely handicapped for this week and any other weeks to come until someone decides to take my issue seriously and help me. Can somebody help me out here?

Hi Jason,
I can't exactly visualise the screen your trying to get the text from (screenshot might help me). Usually the "Copy Bible Verses" function will allow you o get the verses from any given translation in almost any format you want. Now I'm used to having it open on the right it's almost as quick as a traditional copy and paste which doesn't work.

Thanks for the screenshot, essentially you can't as you normally would, at least that I've not found. However, if you click on the tools menu, then copy bible verses, and add drag it to your text comparison pain you can then choose which version and how you would like the ouput formatting and copy and paste. In the long run I have found it better as I have created my own formatting styles which means the Bible Passages always look the same on presentions etc. And save the window as a layout you won't have to go through all the menus each time.

It look like this could help as a workaround, but it seems like there are extra steps involved, plus you can only have one version open at a time on the "Copy Bible Verses" pane. I do appreciate your effort, though, Kenny.
Is someone from Logos going to respond to this? Surely it would not be incredibly difficult to allow people to cut and paste from the text comparison - as is the case on the PC version?

Welcome [:D] + Apologies (understand)
Wiki page Logos 4 Mac has Need Logos 4 PC feature? section with links to Windows virtualization tips on Mac along with Windows native boot option (via Boot Camp).
WIki page Mac and PC User Interface Differences has Feature Parity section, which now has Text Comparison.
Using Logos 4.3 Beta 4 on Mac and PC, concur PC can select and copy verses in Text Comparison window, which does not work on Mac. One option is clicking version in Text Comparison to open Bible resource, followed by copy verse(s) and paste. Another option is opening "Copy Bible Verses" from Tools menu, choose version (and desired formatting), then copy (or Copy and Paste):
Also can Print/Export from Text Comparison, then select verses from Print/Export preview (Right Click has copy):
Keep Smiling [:)]

Yes, it is a long way around for what you are doing. KS4J has added it to the feature parity section of the wiki which Logos do monitor (as far as I am aware). The mac version is getting towards complete parity, but these things crop up every so often.

Thank you KS4J and Kenny. What are the chances of this actually getting fixed sometime soon?

Also updated Logos 4.3 Feature Parity ? thread in Mac Beta forum, which is being answered in Logos 4.3 Beta release notes when feature parity improvement is ready for public testing. Thankful Logos links to forum threads in Logos 4 Beta Release Notes
Noticed Feature Parity list has grown to 20 items plus future revamp of Handouts. Once Logos 4.3 stable version ships, looking forward to reducing Feature Parity list (added Beta release links to show parity progress).

Soon = Yes; no idea for "soon" timeframe. From previous Beta bugginess experience, some fixes are in next release while others are included many releases (months) later. Logos does prioritize items being used for development effort (includes issues gathered by Logos Technical Support).

Kenny,
Ok, it's been almost 6 months since you and I had this conversation, and still - nothing has been done. Are you guys even looking at this? It doesn't seem like a colossal problem to fix, but it will take someone at logos to actually show some concern about this issue - and in the last six months, despite my emails and requests for assistance here, you folks still just leave it as it is. I guess once you have someone like me who is seriously invested in your software to the point where he can't move to a different system, you can just ignore him without consequences. I would hope, however, that you would show at least a little appreciation for my business by making something of an effort to fix this problem. It shouldn't take 6 months, guys - unless you just don't give a rip, which it seems like you don't.
Please don't tell me to "keep smiling" as long as you "keep ignoring,"

Jason ... please keep in mind Keep Smiling is 'just' a volunteer and a good one at that. No Logos person ever responded.
I'm not sure what the feature parity issue is. I am on Windows 4.3 SR6 and I can't copy either as you describe.
That's why I never left Libronix3 ... I don't have any patience for no copy, etc. especially on the search panel too.
Logos4 walked away from some very basic user features (like 'copy') that were pretty standard even before Windows and the Mac.
You'll find this strange, but I do searches in Logos4, find what I'm looking for and then REPEAT the narrowed search in Libronix simply because it's faster to copy what I want.. But it's that crazy, whacky Logosian world.

Hi Denise!
Wow - I had no idea - I thought Kenny was a logos employee! Kenny if you're reading this, MY BAD, BRO!
Denise, I have the latest version of logos on a laptop that is not in use, and the feature works fine - so I'm not sure how to respond. And yeah - that's crazy that you have to go through all that just to get our work done. I really wish someone at logos would deal with this
Anyway, thanks again Denise, and my apologies, Kenny!
Later,
J

Current Logos 4.5 Beta 4 needs Print/Export preview workaround step to copy and paste Text Comparison verse(s). High priority in Logos 4.5 Beta development is revamping Highlighting and Notes along with sync framework so your Highlighting and Notes can sync between Logos 4 and mobile apps, which is highly desired and anticipated by many Logos users.
Wiki Mac and PC User Interface Differences => Feature Parity section has some Logos 4.5 Beta updates, gleaned from Mac Release Notes and History
Option: vote for Logos User Voice suggestion => Improve Logos 4 Mac Feature Parity with PC that is now ranked # 39 with 64 votes.
Likewise could create Logos User Voice Suggestion for user community voting (noticed 409 open suggestions).
By the way, suggestion => Logos 4 Mac Enhancements is ranked # 19 with 171 votes (Logos 4 Mac users desire OS X Lion full screen and multi-finger gestures more than completing feature parity between Mac and PC by better than 2 to 1 margin).
From many forum posts, also am aware of several Logos 4 Mac crashes using OS X Lion, which has a higher priority for fixing code compared to Logos User Voice Suggestion ranking.
Bob Pritchett, Logos CEO, replied 6 days ago => http://community.logos.com/forums/p/40084/299243.aspx#299243 that is worth reading. Logos 4 Mac not being ignored. For many, many months, Logos looking to hire developers => http://www.logos.com/about/careers (part of reason for delay improving code, lack of talented Mac developers who want to relocate to Bellingham, WA)

Keep Smiling 4 Jesus [:)] is a variation on Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord Always, again I will say, Rejoice (written from a prison cell under unpleasant circumstances: Paul wrote Rejoice using imperative mood, a command). Hence, personally have a Godly reason to Keep Smiling 4 Jesus [:D]
