BUG: Dragging External Links to Favorites
My Logos 4 Mac (4.5a SR-1 (4.51.0.2057)) will not let me drag in external links (documents, programs, or websites) to my favorites panel. I've seen this done in Mark Barnes' unofficial tutorial on Favorites, but he was using the Windows version. I am using a Macbook Pro Core2Duo. My specs are attached below in case that is relevant.
The help file in Step 4 under the Favorites headings states: "4. External links, such as documents and program shortcuts can also be dragged to the Favorites panel." I have tried simply dragging and dropping with and without different key combinations. I have tried different file types (Pages and Word doc), creating an alias and dragging that in, copy/paste key commands, but none worked.
Dragging and dropping the files onto a bookmark assignment in the Bookmarks section does work, however. I can't figure out what I'm missing to be able to add external links to my folders in the Favorites section, though. Any ideas?

Steve, could you click the "More" popup button and edit the title of this thread to prefix "BUG"? This will get more attention from Logos. This is probably a feature parity issue, but it is not listed in the Wiki.

After confirming Logos 4.5b Beta 6 on Mac cannot create an external alias in a Favorites folder (even though a green plus appears in Finder when dragging item to folder), updated wiki => Feature Parity with link to this thread:
- PC Favorites allows drag and drop of external items to create shortcuts while Mac cannot create external aliases in Favorites

Welcome [:D]
Wiki Using the Forums has => Editing or deleting posts since you could add Bug: prefix to thread title.
Logos development needs to modify Favorites to allow external alias creation in folders on Mac OS X.
Sent email to Logos 4 feedback.

Steve - welcome to the forums!
I think this is a known issue or a regression. Last time I tried it didn't work either.
I can confirm the bug. I couldn't find another thread about this alabama24, do you happen to recall where you found it? Regardless, for the time being I found a work-around. You can still drag the links to the shortcut bar, and then from there to Favorites. I'll wait for alabama24's response, and if he can't find it to where development replied, I'll send it to them. They may actually already know about it.

I can't say whether it's known, but it's definitely a regression:
I dragged all of these web links shortly after the Web resources Reading List was first started, and at that time it worked fine (unless my memory is completely unreliable at this late hour).

I concur that its a regression. I know that it worked in the middle of last year:[;)] http://community.logos.com/forums/p/35880/269393.aspx

I don't, sorry. I looked but was unable to find it either. Normally I would have reported it if it had not already been done so, but perhaps I didn't, but it seems to me like I read it as being reported. With 5000 posts, sometimes they run together in my head. [:D]
EDIT: It may have been THIS THREAD on a similar issue that I read, and didn't get to follow up on.

Tommy,
Very clever. Thanks for posting your work-around idea. That will ease the waiting until the feature is fixed.

I'm not seeing a case logged for this issue. To be sure, I will create one and send it to Development.

This has been resolved in 4.5c Beta 4.

Concur partially resolved in 4.5c Beta 4 since able to create an external link by drag and drop, but not into an existing folder.

I can reproduce the remaining issue. I will reopen the case and send it back to Development. Thanks!

This issue should be fixed in 4.6 Beta 3 for beta users, and in general when 4.6 ships to the stable channel.
