Vyrso suggestions/errata

When you sell books in a "series" please provide them as single resources and not one resource that contains multiple books. This makes it quite confusing as to which book is which. This is especially important when doing global library searches. I just bought some Moody books and was dismayed to receive seven books in one resource. Even worse, the sidebar table of contents only says "book one" and doesn't give the title. This might be okay with some series but with the Rebeca St. John collection it isn't actually a "series," just books by the same author.

I also bought The CoMission. Please note that the title is The CoMission not The Comission. A small detail, but an important one.

Thanks!

Tom

The best place to report this kind of issue in the future is on the Metadata correction proposals page in the Wiki. (You don't need to do it this time; I just did.)

Can you give a specific title your purcahsed.  From my understanding Logos simply encode the epub file to make it readable by Logos 4 and that's as far as it goes with Vyrso books. I don't believe they would take separate files and combine them into one book.   I would think the file came from the publisher that way - an omnibus .. but then I could be completely misunderstanding what you are saying so if you can give the specific titles involved that would clarify what you are asking to happen.

    Hi Tom!

I'm apologize that you felt misinformed, publishers often decide to bundle ebooks together into one resource and don't provide adequate information about the products offered. Thank you for making us aware of the errors and problems! We will be sure to make note of this problem and do our best to make the necessary fixes. Again, I apologize for any inconvenience.

    Thanks!

I think the best example is the Sugar Creek Gang series because it is available in many ways.

You can purchase the complete 36 book set or 6 sets of 6 books or individually. Obviously they are available as individual books from the publisher but if you buy the 36 volume set in Vyrso you get one resource that contains all 36 books instead of 36 individual books.

The one I was referring to earlier is the Patricia St John set which contains 6 books (#24497). Four of those books are available individually from Vyrso but not all 6 so conceivably the publisher is making them available in a different manner. This isn't a series but individual books by the same author and I would much rather have them listed individually.

I suppose we can blame the publisher for all of this - possibly they are selling things in this manner in order to hit a certain price point and ensure collections stay collections. In that case I hope they hear that this purchaser would like them to be a little more considerate towards how we use/arrange our libraries.

    Thanks Brian,

I guess the lesson learned is that Vyrso "sets" are not like Logos sets and from now on I will presume that every Vyrso listing is for a single resource, no matter how many books are included. That said, I hope you can change it so that a book is a book and not a collection of books because it is confusing in the library. If the publishers don't allow you to offer individual books perhaps the library screen can list the books individually and then when you click on one it can take you to the proper book within the collection. Although this would still prevent one from rating and tagging them individually. I trust you see the problem :) and that something can be worked out.
