For some reason, I don't remember exactly why when I was in school I wanted to know more about some of the earliest Christian writings and so made a special order from the school bookstore of Cyril C. Richardson's Early Christian Fathers. My dead-tree edition has been quite heavily used by me over the years. It was with amazement when I saw this book at CCEL, since it is relatively recent, yet when I did a search of copyright renewals, it was not there and so should be public domain.
I have toyed with creating a Personal Book edition of this for a while. I wanted to wait until I understood more about making things a datatype target before attempting any of it. But because I wanted a modern edition of these texts in Logos, I have created a PB of the section on Justin Martyr - both the introduction and the text of the 1st Apology.
In creating this edition I changed the footnote numbers from the CCEL edition by starting with 1. In the print edition, it also starts with 1, but after going up to 99 it restarts at 1 instead of going into 3 digits - so a bit over half the footnote numbers here match the print edition.
The Page numbers are those of the Cyril Richardson book, but the actual text of this section is from Edward Rochie Hardy. I have tried to tag as many links as makes sense. I actually hesitate from releasing this here because Logos does offer the Apology of Justin in English - but in an edition about a century older.
Of course, I can dream of having the even more up to date edition of both Apologies from Paulist Press in Logos...
