To reproduce this bug:

  1. Open the Pronunciation Tool from the Tools menu.
  2. Click the (i) in the top right, to bring up the alphabet.
  3. Click on one of the links to hear the pronunciation.

The sound will play, but you'll then receive the following error:

Mine was a fresh install of L5 (not an upgrade of L4), in case that makes a difference.

I am able to reproduce this issue, and will report it to Development.

    Don't get the error here.

Which OS (assuming Win8 by the error message)? Do you have Windows Media Player installed? It's interesting that the sound will play, and then the notice comes up - obviously the playback code is on the machine.

I'm not sure which format the pronunciation sounds are in, but it could be as simple as a file association issue within Windows. Can you check the common ones (mp3, wav, etc.) and confirm they do have file associations?

    EDIT: FYI, I'm using Win7.

It's a protocol problem, not a file association problem. The links on the tool are linked to "pronunciation:" which Windows 8 interprets as a protocol. You can see these links if you copy and paste the text into Word, then edit the hyperlink.
