5.1 Beta 1 (5.1.0.0860) available
5.1 Beta 1 (5.1.0.0860) is available for testing.
To update to Beta 1, enter the Update Now command if you’ve switched to the beta channel before, or enter the Set Update Channel to Beta command if you’re on a stable version (such as 5.0b SR-1). To install Beta 1 from scratch, see the notes and download links on this thread.
For examples of using dynamic text syntax to create a Bible Harmony or Lectionary in Personal Books see the attached document.

So I was brave and took the plunge. Now, after about an hour and a half, I still see "Preparing your library."
I'm getting nervous.

I've noticed an exceptionally long "Syncing" process of about 30 minutes, however, after that process completed, all is well.

Mine did the same. Don't know if I should have but I restarted Windows after a long wait. Started again. Then I got the synchronizing box for a long while, after a while I just clicked the Start Now button and it opened. Seems to be working fine....

I allowed mine to complete, which took about 30 minutes. Generally, the home page will open first, then the synchronizing occurs behind the scenes. This time, the synchronizing occurred before presenting the home page. I'm not sure if this is the way it will happen from here on out. I'll have to wait until I purchase another resource to find out.

Yeah, that's definitely the smarter move. I'm sure I was just too impatient. Hopefully, I didn't goof anything up...

I don't think anything failed because of pressing the "start now" button. At worst, L5 will probably just restart the sync. I've done that in the days of L4, and nothing bad became of it.

I finally did what you did and L5 started up without issues.

This is going to make one young lady very happy indeed!

If you still have logs from the very long "Syncing" process could you upload them? Sync can take a while, especially on new installs, but on upgrades it typically doesn't take that long, so I'd like to investigate further as to what is going on. If you don't have the logs, from the long sync, but experience it again at a later time, it would be much appreciated if you could upload them.Erwin Stull, Sr. said:I've noticed an exceptionally long "Syncing" process of about 30 minutes, however, after that process completed, all is well.

I auto-installed in my Mac without any issues. Did not take more than a couple of minutes and is running. I have not really tested any functionality, but installation went without a glitch.

Seth, you can review the logs in this thread. I think you will see the problem http://community.logos.com/forums/t/67074.aspx

I'm not sure if this includes the logs needed, but here they are.
Your logs are like mine. The last one was Feb 22 with similar errors IIRC (I already deleted my old logs). I noticed that somehow my diagnostic logging was turned off when I checked the registry. Actually, the "Enabled" key was gone, not just turned off. Did the key get reset on an update?

I just looked at my registry and noticed the same thing. My L5 has generally been functioning ok, so I haven't been concerned with these things much. While looking further at my registry, I also noticed Librinox and L4 entries. I'm long overdue for a complete cleaning (reformat and reinstall) of my system (actually a year overdue). Trying to find the time to due such a massive task. [:)]

Also, concerning the long initial sync issue, the same thing occurred on my netbook, so I think this is from the update. Haven't had any further issues yet.

So, I believe we've identified the problem, and will work on a solution for the next beta. If you have lots of custom resource metadata (user titles, ratings etc) it will be more likely that you would experience the long sync issue. After one long sync it shouldn't take as long on subsequent startups.
You may also notice the issue (or would have noticed it in the past) if you modified a whole bunch of custom resource metadata on one machine, then when you started up on another machine it may have taken a while to sync.0 -
Thanks.

I think this might be tied to my failure (I have a thread up in this forum). I have around 300 (I think) PBB's, class notes, sermons, stuff from the "files" forum, stuff I converted from another software program, and things I imported from Kindle (text books and so forth).
To give a little background, during the sync, logos hung. Restarting it resulted in failures. Had to uninstall, and re-install.
