3718.NT Christianity, Vol. 1.docx

Here is vol. 1 of the three volume set "New Testament Christianity" edited by ZT Sweeney.  Its copyright is 1923, so I think it is OK.  Unfortunately while I have also done vol. 2 & 3 for my own use, they are copyrighted 1926 and 1930 respectively. I got the texts from Hans Rollman's Restoration Movement site now administered by Abilene Christian University) and there is no notice that copyright permission was given in the "About This Electronic Edition" that accompanies most of the works on that site.

The copyright seems to have originally been owned by the Z.T. Sweeney and then by his wife.  I will do a little (although not a lot) of checking to see if I can either find that the copyright was not renewed or get permission from the copyright holder to post vols. 2 & 3. The copyright seems a little problematic.  While the original books were given away (each says, "This volume is not for sale") AND the volumes are comprised of sermons by other men most of which (the sermons, not the men) predate 1923, still the Sweeney family copyrighted the material.  Whether they had the permission to copyright someone elses material, or whether they copyrighted it so that others could not produce copies, is totally unknown.

Thanks for sharing Calvin. It sure would be nice to have the other two volumes too to complete the set.

Bruce:  You're welcome.  Yes it would.  I am not comfortable sharing them here, however, until I know their copyright status.

That is totally the right thing to do. I am just hoping that they are not currently under copyright but time will tell.
