BUG: "Tile" view (5.1 Mac)
As reported in THIS THREAD, the "tile" view in the library can be very slow when searching, even with an SSD HD. "Detail" view seems to work fine.

I can confirm this on a 2008 MacBook Pro. The detail view is populating properly.
Once loaded you can switch without delay between the two views. So, I don't think this is really a bug...

The bug is in searching within the "tile" view. Interestingly, the simple process of deleting the search field causes the wheels to spin. I never use this view, so its no big deal to me, but another forum member was having difficulties with it.

No difference in behavior between the two views while searching or deleting the search field (after initially populating the tile view which takes a little while). Which makes me think it not a bug but something else. No problem for me, I was just curious.

That isn't my experience. "Detail" view is pretty fast (I'm on a 3 year old MacBook with an HDD), but "tile" view remains slow. Out of curiosity… what OS are you running? I'm on 10.8.4.

I just tried using the Library in both "detail" and "tile" view (including searching in each view) after updating to SR1. I find both views to work very slow compared to previous versions - no crash. Typing in the Library search box is extremely horrible!! I've finished typing and only two letters of what I typed are showing. [:S]
Anything change for you after updating to SR1?

I have been having the same problem. 2012 macbook pro with 16 gb upgrade. The library has been very slow and has even caused the program to stop responding on occasion.
