SUGGESTION - Auto-Lock Old Threads

Hi Logos team, I have a suggestion for improving the usefulness of the forums. The life-cycle of most posts is no more than 2 weeks. After that, they tend to drag on as off-topic debates. Sometimes, new users come in and revive old posts based on the title, but never read all the content so they only end up dredging up the past.
My suggestion, is that all threads be set to auto-lock after 2 weeks. This will eliminate much of the useless chatter and confusion about old info. If someone need to reference an old post, they can start a new thread and link to the old locked thread.
For me personally, I think this would make things muvh easier to follow instead of seeing outdated threads that are are 2 months revived again and again.
Thanks for your consideration.

Good idea, or at the very least lock posts that have been dormant for 2 weeks.

I'd be concerned about cutting everything off after 2 weeks as there are ocassionally problems that take that long or longer to resolve. There are also a number of issues that are resolved in a number of hours. My suggestion would be (a) (Rosie's idea) original poster can lock the thread when they believe their issue has been resolved and (b) (Kevin's idea) that posts that have been dormant for 2 weeks auto-lock.
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

That seems to be the best option. We would not want to kill the Hijack thread before the Millennium [8-|]

Yes, good idea. Let the original poster lock the thread as soon as it's been resolved to her satisfaction. But make threads auto-lock after they've been dormant for two weeks. If for some reason an old issue becomes a problem again (we thought it was resolved but a new twist shows up) that can by reported by opening a new thread and linking back to the locked one for further background info.
Also provide a way to view threads that are about to expire, so that those of us who do go around looking for posts that still need answers can make sure nothing is falling through the cracks.
