Sense tagging on proper nouns?

In https://community.logos.com/forums/t/100129.aspx we were discussing how to set up a visual filter for towns / cities.

I noted that using a "sense-based" filter didn't seem to work when the towns were named and NB.Mick commented that as far as he knew they weren't tagged - which is consistent with what I was seeing.

Is there a plan to extend tagging to cover these cases? It will really help with these sorts of searches.

In a general sense, senses are not applied to proper nouns in linguistics/natural language processing. The sense would always be self-referential e.g. Bethlehem sense 1 Bethlehem; David 1 sense David. To say it is a place or a person is to give a hypernym not a sense. To distinguish between Bethlehem in the Middle East and Bethlehem in Pennsylvania is using contextual knowledge (deixis).  For the sort of thing you are wanting "sense" to handle, the appropriate tool is "semantic domains"
