Beta 4 seems pretty sluggish (regular 50% CPU)
I don't remember this for a while, though my recent hard drive issues meant I haven't really been keeping tabs.
Simple interface operations seem to take more than a second quite regularly e.g. highlighting a word, applying a highlight, changing the colour of a note. At such moments CPU is spiking to 50%. Overall, the app has a definite sluggish feel to it.
Other apps are whizzing along - this is a clean install of XP Pro Sp3 on a new hard drive, so not much clutter yet.
I had a large note file open at the time (over 1000 notes) - have now closed this, and it seems to have improved performance a bit.

Not seeing it here Richard, my initial reaction was that the B4 was "snappier"

B4 is better for me too, especially since they stopped it from syncing all the time. Perhaps it's just the note file.

Beta 4 is a lot snappier for me as well. I am using an Acer netbook, with 2gigs of ram.

Seems slower to me too. In fact, right now it crashed. I'll post logs in a separate message if it does it again, but it does seem to be slower for me.

Earlier today I was seeing my CPU (Core 2 duo 2.0g) max (99%) during scrolling only. I had 5 bibles linked to each other and one commentary, no explorer, PG or cited by windows open. Highlighting took better than 10 secs. This is new behavior for me with the beta 4.

I haven't really noticed a difference between betas. Unfortunately, they have all been slow. Typing is slow, copying text is slow, scrolling is slow, running a passage guide is slow. Overall L4 passage guide is no faster than passage guide in L3 yet it uses twice as much CPU. Running a passage guide for john 3:16 only occasionally peaked above 45% while L4 passage guide for john 3:16 hangs in the 80/90% area. It seems that resource "Indexing" has not really helped much. Has Logos made any public statement about the performance issues in L4? It sure would make me feel better if they acknowledged it and were on a path to remedy it. Sorry to sound like Eeyore...

There is a known performance problem with having notes that were taken on older versions of resources. If the resource file is updated, we need to do extra work to make sure that the note is still in the right position (e.g., to account for typo corrections). In 4.0b Beta 4, this work is done more often than it needs to be; a future beta release will optimise this process.
