Synchronization Error

Afternoon wonderful Logos people! Got an interesting issue I'm trying to work through:
Just installed Logos 4 fresh on my Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit desktop. However, when it opens it shows an exclamation mark on the sync icon in the top-right and says "An error occurred during synchronization."
Previously I had tried renaming my Notes folder ("C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\Logos4\Documents\[random]\Documents\Notes") to Notes_OLD, restarting Logos, and seeing if that worked. I also renamed the two files in the Notes folder to [whatever]_OLD. (I use the Logos app and take notes and attach them to passages all the time.) However, this time nothing worked - it still won't sync.
Anyone encounter this before and have any suggestions?
Thanks!

A few things I would try: are you connected to the internet, are you working offline, and I would check the firewall.

Thanks for the suggestions, checked all of those - I'm connected, I'm online, and I turned the firewall off - still getting the synchronization error.

Did you consider updating your installation to Logos6? (Free engine is available) There's no guarantee this will fix your issue, but I've seen a couple of various issues reported that were resolved by this in the last weeks.

Didn't know you could do a free engine upgrade, so I'll definitely give that a shot! Thanks for the suggestion, I'll post an update here once I've tried that.

I can't thank you enough for that suggestion: A. Didn't even know you could upgrade to the latest version's engine for free. B. It worked! The synchronization icon isn't showing an error anymore.
Thanks again!
