Logos Now and Logos 7 Crossgrade
Here's a suggestion for when Logos 7 ships and "if" Logos 7 wants to include some of the features/datasets available in Logos Now as a direct purchase option.
Say Logos 7 ships about two years from now. Faithlife/Logos could ship a Logos 7 Core Crossgrade package of the features/datasets that were currently a part of "Logos Now" as a direct pricing option, and price this Core Crossgrade for about the same price as a two year subscription to Logos Now. This Core Crossgrade would also be included in base package upgrades.
For Logos Now subscribers, Faithlife/Logos could throw in the Core Crossgrade free to subscribers. In essence, we have "pre paid" for it over the course of two years with our subscription. Then we could still upgrade to base packages as normal paying for the new books we'd receive.
Then Logos Now could continue to offer additional new perks/datasets, etc, that aren't currently available as a direct purchase, allowing us to continue subscribing to Logos Now after we upgrade to Logos 7.
That way for the items that do become "direct purchase" options later on, Logos Now customers haven't "lost" anything, by getting the core crossgrade free, then still invest in the extra funds to upgrade to the new base packages with all the new books and any other Logos 7 direct purchase features.
Another thing Logos Now could offer: A "public beta" of Logos 7 when Logos 7 enters beta stage. This would allow Logos Now subscribers early access to testing Logos 7, as well as prep the rest of the public for getting ready to upgrade when it ships. That would also help spread out the news, announcements, etc., so we all don't stampede Faithlife's servers like a bunch of cattle as we've all typically done in the past with new product launches. :-)

Interesting idea. What would you suggest for someone who subscribes later on, like a year from now? Would they get the Core Crossgrade for free, or is Logos going to have to calculate the "dynamic price" based on when you jumped in?
This is close to the way Wolfram handles Mathematica. If you subscribe to their Premier service, you get "free" upgrades, otherwise you pay the upgrade price. It really just serves to smooth out the upgrade costs for both sides, which I think Logos/FL is after.

Good point. I guess ultimately Faithlife/Logos could decide, but "dynamic pricing" would sound sensible. I guess it could turn out that for each month one is a Logos Now subscriber, $8.95 comes off the price of the Logos 7 Core Crossgrade (or toward a base package) upgrade). For those that have been a member for two years, they get the Core Crossgrade free or the credit applied to the base package upgrade (or Logos could go ahead and unlock the Core Crossgrade for free so they could start enjoying the polished up datasets then call in later for the base package upgrade to get all the new books). Those with less than two years subscription could get a dynamic pricing upgrade toward the Core Crossgrade or a base package for how much they've currently paid in.
People who cancel and may later re-subscribe would have the clock set back to zero, so that'd be something for people to consider.
All of this is of course just suggestions, but definitely things Faithlife/Logos can consider, and good points you brought up.

I think this is a very good idea. But it is probably expecting too much to expect Faithlife to subtract subscription fees dollar for dollar off the Crossgrade price. Logos Now includes other benefits besides the new features and datasets destined for Logos 7. Plus, subscribers will have been utilizing those things for possibly up to two years prior. It would be hard to fault Faithlife for factoring those things into a dynamic price.
Not that I'd be upset with them for being so generous. [:D] I do agree it would be good to reward subscribers with a discount so they don't feel like they are paying twice for the same thing. I'd be surprised to hear concrete numbers from Faithlife this early on, though.

I think this is something similar to what Logos is looking to provide to us. That is what I would like to have also. They may have to adjust the price for this, but smoothing out the price over months is in everyone's interest. It would be nice to have automatic upgrades, but then Logos (FL) would have to stick to a schedule of upgrades or some would make a fuss if they had to wait 2.5 years instead of 2 years.

Since Logos would want something good to attract buyers to Logos (or very few would choose to upgrade), I would anticipate most of the Logos Now content going into Logos 7. If there was something along the lines of what Nathan suggested I would almost certainly leap on board Logos Now ..... errrr now.

It's possible they could also do something similar to this but in terms of Logos 7 and not a smartphone (although the Logos Phone would be fun to have). :-)

Yeah, seems they're leaving the features on subscription level for Logos Now members (with the option to buy the Full Feature Set at a deep discount), but I'm still remaining on Logos Now even though they didn't implement my suggestion since it is a good deal and gives me access to all the current and future features of Logos, and it also allows me to enjoy Logos 7 on launch date while I make up my mind what library I want (usually Platinum but at least now I can ponder it instead of jumping in).
I am staying on Logos Now and not purchasing the Full Feature Set since I plan to stay on Logos Now for a long period of time and don't see the point in paying for features I'm going to continually rent.

I opted in finally to Logos Now and like what I see so far. I know I do not own the features permanently though. Oh well. I decided to opt in and see how it progresses in terms of becoming simpler during the year membership...let us pray!

I saw that Logos Now includes some capabilities of "Logos Cloud". Does that include "anywhere access" to my library?
I do not have Logos installed on my work PC for obvious reasons, and I like to study over lunch sometimes. I currently use Biblia, but I can't copy verses from it without including all ofthe footnote markers, etc, so I need to jump over to the ESV online site to do reasonable copy/pasting. Does Logos Now have a better interface for this?Thanks!
