Will Logos be participating in this Zondervan sale?

Will Logos be participating in this Zondervan sale? Many of their books are heavily discounted on Amazon Kindle right now as a part of this sale, but I do not see them discounted on Logos. I'd rather give Logos my business and have these books in my Logos library instead of giving Amazon my business and have them in my Kindle library.

I really wish that Logos would do better at participating in sales that publishers do. I've called them in the past to ask if they are participating in these types of sales and the answer is always "no" and that's just, well, unfortunate if you ask me. Again, I like to give Logos my business, but sometimes it seems they like to make it hard for me. Why would I pay full price at Logos when I can get a steep discount on Amazon?

a question only you can answer. Personally, the number one reason I buy books in Logos is to have an integrated search library. Since books purchased on kindle would not be a part of that library, I buy them in logos... Most of the time.

Logos edition books are "value added." There are real people earning a living helping to provide additional features to these resources. If you don't care about that, by all means buy elsewhere. I only buy on kindle when I wouldn't mind repurchasing in Logos.

I think this has more to do with Zondervan than Faithlife / Logos. It was announced quite recently, in the last month or so, that some kind of Faithlife agreement was being hammered out with Zondervan, so discounts and sales may well become available in the near(ish) future that weren't available in the past.

Right, but you can still have a discount with the value add, it could look like this:

Logos can keep their premium built in while still giving us a discount based on the publisher's discount of the eBook.

I dont disagree. I don't have any inside information. I do know that "logos edition" resources fall under a different set of licensing agreements than do "Vyrso edition" titles.

I am not arguing against a discount (hey, I want them too!). I am just saying that you aren't going to see the book for $2.99.

My take on the situation over the years is that Logos' insistence of, "hey, our hands are tied--we offer value-add--more than just a simple ebook--can't discount" as a justification to never offer any discounts during publisher sales is just as much an issue as users who demand that Logos price-match the exact ebook sale (e.g. $2.99). There's got to be a reasonable middle ground.

Plus, this type of thing should thrill the business side of Logos. If the value add premium stays at the same level, the margins on the book increase tremendously, they won't lose any Logos dollars, and will likely induce more to buy a resource who otherwise wouldn't. Again, this is not up to Logos. The publisher has the final say. When Logos finally got Zondervan onboard it was great but Zondernan's agreement was much stricter than other publishers, for example Zondervan titles do not allow for academic pricing.

Exactly! I understand that Logos books are fancier and can do more cool stuff, and that's great! And I understand that because they can do more cool stuff they are going to cost more, that's fine by me too. But, as William has so nicely illustrated, if a publisher is giving a discount, then Logos should be able to discount the final eBook price as much as the cost is being discounted for them by the publisher, which would result in all around more sales and more profit for everyone! So sure, they don't have to match the kindle deal because Logos books still have that extra overhead, that's understandable, but it can still be somewhere in the middle instead of ZERO discount.

Ahhh....!!, the same old 'Zondervan' grindstone!!

Whatever happened to old fashioned book mining? Everybody lost the art of studying using indexes and footnote refs?, browsing and speed reading through the text? People getting lazy with the digitized world? Lots of people seem to have lost the art of balance in studying. We have a tool in our hands (ie. Logos), and it is not the be-all and end-all of our lives in studying.

I thank Zondervan that they do make their eBooks available on some fantastic discounts in the past and present. Learn to integrate, guys. I'd rather have affordable resources rather than wear blinkers because of how we have to use them!
