Hello
When Logos does a Index is it always a full Index or only part?
Is there a command to do a full index?
Thanks Lee
Normally when new resources are added only a partial index is done
"rebuild index" will do it
Any particular reason why you want to do this?
Yes
I just added two new resources but the index finished in 4 minutes.
I have an SSD but I was thinking it was fast.
The "rebuild index" completed after 2 hours 40 minutes.
BTW: thanks Graham for the fast response
Lee
No problem....thanks

That's rather slow for an SSD[:D] But the 'partial index' does a proper job and is much faster than a rebuild of all your resources!
Dave the notebook has a 2nd gen i3 which maybe a lot of the problem. But I should be upgrading my PC to maybe a new 2015 MacBook Pro 13 in May which will be much faster.

The length of time it takes to index a small update/purchase is directly dependent on the size of the library (or more accurately, the size of the existing index). That's because whilst the resource itself will index very quickly (perhaps seconds), merging that index with the main index will take a long time.
On my very fast PC (i7, fast SSD, 16GB RAM) with a large library, the last resource I added took 9 minutes 3.2 seconds, of which 7 minutes and 44 seconds was on the merge. The previous resource I added took 10m 20.1 seconds, of which 9m 41.4 seconds was on merging.
Thank you for explaining that Mark. I've always wondered why indexing a single resource always took so long on my SSD with 16GB RAM. That makes a lot of sense. I appreciate you sharing it.
My comment was very 'tongue-in-cheek' and certainly wasn't meant to suggest you need to upgrade. Mark explained the true nature of 'partial' indexing e.g. one new resource was indexed in 0.5s but the whole process took nearly 3 min on my 1st gen i5 with SSD.
Dave
I was just saying that I have been planning to upgrade before your comment.
For the past 6 months I have been looking at reviews because I will be taking a break from the field for three months.
Also the computer my Wife has needs to be replaced, so she is taking my old one and letting me upgrade to a better one. My problem is making the choice of which one to get.
I really like the UX303LN but it has a problem with yellow screen color with the Quad-HD 3200 x 1800 display. Lenovo and Samsung made a BIOS correction for it but Asus did not.
And now that Apple updated their 2015 MacBook Pro 13" I am thinking strongly that is the best choice, but it is a lot of money.
Dave I was just saying that I have been planning to upgrade before your comment.
Thanks for the clarification, Lee. I expect Asus will deliver a fix in the near future (perhaps via a new model?) as they will know that their competitors have done so.
Hi all,
does anyone know why resources can be seen and used on Ipadd but don't appear in the p.c library??
Dominic check if the resource is hidden in the PC Library.

Some resources are made available for free on iPad but not available on the PC.
Suggest you post details in the iPad app forum - https://community.logos.com/forums/74.aspx - and we can look at it there
