[resolved] "Preparing Library" message for about 30 minutes
After upgrading to 6.3b1 it went into a "Preparing Library" phase which lasted for 30 minutes with nothing much seeming to be happening.
I stopped Logos and restarted it and everything now seems to be working
Logs from when the library was preparing attached

Thanks for the report, Graham. I'm assuming you mean that the notification icon in the upper right corner of the main screen never went away. Is that correct?

I downloaded the beta and after restarting was notified a 13 mb resource update was available. I clicked download and it did so, then "prepared my library". The yellow notification did not go away so I click that and selected restart. Nothing happened. I closed and restarted the program and the yellow notification triangle is still there. If I click that and select restart nothing happens.
Here's my log. 26700.Logos.log
I guess I'll get used to the yellow triangle.[:D]

Fredc, you've successfully encountered two of the known issues in the release notes!
- Clicking the notification hyperlink to restart the application does nothing (you can manually close and relaunch the application).
- The notification bar may prompt for application restart every time the application runs.
This restart prompt is related to a resource you no longer have a license for (The Minor Prophets by J. G. Bellett). This can be safely ignored for now, and we'll take care of getting this cleaned up in an upcoming beta.

Thanks Andrew. I overlooked the known issues.
On another note, can you tell me why I lost a license?

It does look like you should have a license to a book with that title and author. Can you check your library and see if you can find that book? I'm wondering if there is some kind of resource ID mixup.

Yes - and the words "Preparing Library..." were at the left of the notification bar as well

Thanks for the logs, Graham. I've been able to track down the problem and implement a fix. In your case, the download was failing on a couple of retired resources associated with past betas. The retry mechanism was not properly handling this situation resulting in a failure to clear the notification message. The fix for this will be in beta 2. Beta 2 will also hopefully include the fix that cleans up the no longer valid updates rather than trying to download them, but that's still a work in progress.

I also experienced this perpetual "Preparing Library" error with the addition that the Library window showed the "Updating Library catalog…" message. Restart seemed to clear my alert also.

Goodness, Fred, this was a bit of a tricky knot to unravel. There was an internal problem back in January that caused your application to think it was supposed to download the resource I indicated. This got left in the update database, and only became obvious now with the notification and update changes. You haven't actually lost any licenses, and the correct version of the resource in question is the one you indicated is visible in your library. Please let me know if you have any more questions about this.

This should be fixed in 6.3 Beta 2.

This will be difficult to verify unless you ask FL to revoke some resource licences!?
