Update takes forever in Windows 8

When starting Proclaim it takes forever to open. On the bottom bar the Proclaim icon appears, but it says "Proclaim Update" for awhile. Then, I finally see the black rectangle update screen (again, only the size of an icon, not a whole window). Sometimes it takes a full 15-20 minutes to open Proclaim. My computer is a Dell i7 processor, 16GB ram plus 4GB on a video card with wired internet. The only way I can get it to open within a reasonable amount of time is to go to the Proclaim website and download it directly from there and then install it again on my computer. I used to run the software on a Mac, and it always asked me if I wanted to update. Windows never does. It just automatically begins updating and takes a long, long time.

Any way to fix this?

Almost all our updates on Mac and Windows are optional. On Windows we show a prompt (black rectangle) that includes a Skip button. It sounds like you're starting the app via the bootstrapper (ProclaimSetup.exe) instead of running the actual installed version of the application. What version of Windows are you running? What is your normal workflow for starting Proclaim?

It is Windows 8.1. I just click on the proclaim tile on my desktop. Then the blue rectangle goes down on my task bar. hovering over it I can see the black update screen with the choices to skip or update -- but I cannot make it large enough to choose because it only stays tiny. Clicking on it does nothing. Proclaim does eventually open, sometimes as much as 15 minutes later. Yesterday those were very critical minutes! I uploaded a video and selected to have it only on that computer. Proclaim "stopped responding" so I had to close and reopen. Bad move at 10:20 with a 10:30 service time. (we had a guest speaker so no advance notice on the video.) no countdown on any screens made for a confused congregation! at 10:29 I bailed to an old 2008 mac where i had opened proclaim just in case. All the songs were there but nothing else. Proclaim was open on the new computer after all the singing ended, but the video was supposed to roll at the beginning.

i have gotten used to getting to church half an hour before practice so that proclaim has time to open. If that could be sped up it would be great.

This morning I uninstalled Proclaim from the Control Panel. I also deleted all of the proclaim installer files I had on my computer (six copies). I then downloaded proclaim from the website. I made sure I put the program in my taskbar instead of the installer. I have opened and closed it a few times. It only takes about 30 seconds to synch and open. Of course, that is without an update taking place. Maybe this fixed the problem?

Sounds more like what I would expect. Let me know if you see the old behavior after the next update.
