Epub/Mobi Reading Capabilities?

I mainly use Calibre to manage my epubs/mobi/pdf's. It is quite nice to be able to "create" a library of all my ebooks. I also use Calibre to manage my Kobo e-Reader. I am even able to "read" an ebook directly from Calibre.

I was wondering: wouldn't it be great if Logos could, almost like Calibre, contain an epub/mobi/pdf reader and the ability to incorporate these resources into the Library (almost like PBB's). If Logos could incorporate epubs/mobis into myLogos Library and allow me to do simple searches in these ebooks, then it would be a dream come true. I have quite a selection of theological/Biblical ebooks in other formats, and it would be excellent if I could do all my research from a single program. Of course, there will be great limitations, but I do not see any problems with copyright issues since there are numerous epub/mobi readers on the market.

I know, but it is not always very effective (fonts change, links disappear etc), but there is also the question of copyright. If Logos could also function as a epub reader, the problem of copyright is no more.

ePublishers like to intimidate people, but the fair use laws are pretty clear, as long as you own the resource, it is public domain or is offered free publicly, you are free to read/listen/watch in any format you want as long as you do so privately and don't share it with anyone else.

If I'm not mistaken the courts have interpreted the laws that way as well.

I have difficulty envisioning what you mean. If one could only do simple searches of these books within Logos, how would that be qualitatively better than tiling Calibre with Logos windows and searching your epubs in Calibre? What's the advantage of having them in Logos? What would be the great limitations you envision and again, does that not take away any advantage of having these epubs in Logos?

It would be better in that it would only need one search query in one program, not two search queries in two programs. The limitations will be that these books will not be indexed like other Logos books. That is why it will only be simple searches. Still, it would mean that I would find results from ALL my resources in one window.

O well, it was just a thought.

If by the one window you mean the search window, I am not sure that this is possible without indexation.
