BWS Bug? No textual hits?

Is this a known bug?

I did a BWS on "msknh" or "dwelling" in the ESV and got hits...

But notice that there are no hits reported in the BHS....

    I got the same result in 4.0b Beta 5. What do you get when you hover your mouse over the "Hebrew Bible" link that you've got circled there?

    Here's what I get:

    image

    So it's not looking in BHS after all; it's looking in Tanakh, The Holy Scriptures, which is an English translation, so no wonder a Hebrew lemma isn't found in it. This is strange.

    BTW, I don't understand that entire search syntax: <lemma = af/he/משׁכנה> .  What are the af and he for? If I do a Morph search in BHS with exactly that text copied and pasted (including the angle brackets), I also get 0 hits. Ditto if I remove the angle brackets. Ditto if I do it as lemma:af/he/משׁכנה.  Even if I type lemma:msknh, no Hebrew lemma matches it. Only if I do that lemma search in ESV can I get it to work.

    I wasn't able to reproduce this (when launching the BWS from "encampments" in Num 24:5). Which word/verse did you start with?

    As you can see does not get any hits in 4.0a SR-3 either, although note my "ring" offers an extra choice, "dwelling place, places..." than yours...

    Maybe I did mine wrong - it's looking in the Hebrew New Testament!

    I didn't start from a word/verse. I started from Guides | Bible Word Study. I typed in h:msknh, which caused it to propose two words: מסכנה stores and
    משׁכנה sanctuaries. I selected the second of these and it ran the BWS and gave 0 results in the Hebrew Bible. Why would it be using Tanakh, The Holy Scriptures for my Hebrew Bible? I don't have that prioritized at all. When I prioritize BHS/WHM 4.2, I get the same problem, even though this time it is searching in BHS:

    Don't worry Rosie. I prioritized Tanakh above LHI (my #1 Hebrew bible) and got o results because BWS is looking there! I think that has something to do with the metadata lang:English;Hebrew! When I remove Tanakh, LHI returns 18 results.

    The annoying thing is that I can't get a lemma suggestion for משׁכנה in a Morph search for LHI! It pops up only when I input lemma:משׁכנה But there is no lemma for BHS 4.2, hence the zero results (also because it uses Westminster morph whilst ESV and LHI use Andersen-Forbes).

    Something not quite right in Search land...

    af = Andersen-Forbes

    he = Hebrew

    <lemma = af/he/משׁכנה>  is the Bible Search syntax for a morph term. Morph Search can get away with lemma:משׁכנה because the morphology/lang is specified in the Search line.

    You should be able to work things out now you know that the generic term is <lemma = morph/lang/word>

    I have removed the "Hebrew" language from the resource metadata; if you are connected to the Internet, Logos 4 will automatically download this update which will prevent the Tanakh being used in BWS, even if it is prioritised.

    Thanks, Bradley. Tanakh isn't being used anymore. But I still get 0 hits in the Hebrew Bible. It's looking in BHS. And for Dominic, it's looking in the Hebrew New Testament! Why is it so random where it looks, and why can't BWS know to look somewhere where it makes sense to look for lemmas? Why does BHS return 0 hits?  I see that the lemma משׁכנה doesn't exist in BHS, so I tried it with משׁכן, and that ended up with 0 results in the Hebrew Bible as well.

    When did you do this? I have been unable to get it to update the book. I updated all my journals yesterday and thought it might be possible that it picked it up then, if you updated it before then. Thanks.

    The metadata is updated via Synchronization - it is independent of the resource and resource downloads.

    Thanks, Bradley. If you could fix the other metadata issues tonight we would all be very grateful ..[H]
