EGW Search Problems

For example, searching in TM for "president NEAR counselors" (without the quotes, of course) fails to provide any results. However, page 342 has this quote, "The president of the General Conference should have the privilege of deciding who shall stand by his side as counselors." Why does this not show up on a search?
NEAR returns results when the search terms are within 48 characters of each other and that is not the case in your example .
You could use the operator AND or WITHIN 20 WORDS.

Thank you for the explanation. That is helpful.
I am used to searches within the paragraph. Is there a way to do this? Also I wish there was a way to see "snippets" of all searches on the search site. seeing the first one with 20x doesn't help at all.

I don't believe there is a way to specify "within the same paragraph" in a regular search but Inline search could be the way to go. See screenshot below for an example
Note - I believe that the search options vary by resource so may not be available in the EGW works (I don't have them to check)

I'm not aware of any mechanism to do this

Again thank you very much. The inline does not yet have paragraphs, at least in Testimonies to Ministers. I hope it is being worked on, though this whole project is obviously ad very big job.

Yes, as Graham has noted, the search term "NEAR" is limited only to within 48 characters. The quote you're referring to has "president" and "counselors" about 110 characters apart, which is why it's not showing up in your search.
As for the paragraph search option, Logos is re-tagging all of EGW's writings as we speak and many resources have already been updated. In the new updated resources, the inline search does now support paragraphs. So it's just a matter of waiting a little longer until they're all updated.
You can see a list here of all/most of the books that have already been updated by Logos:
https://community.logos.com/forums/p/105822/740471.aspx#740471
You can easily tell if an EGW resources has been updated in Logos by if the paragraph numbers are present at the end of each paragraph or not. If they are present, then that resource has not been updated. If they are missing, then that resource has been updated.
To see a further discussion regarding the paragraph numbers being removed by the update, you can follow the discussion here:
