Free Book with a Twist - (Chesterton's The Man Who Was Thursday)
Right now, by clicking here, you can order a $9.99 USD book, G. K. Chesterton's The Man Who Was Thursday.
If you also sign up for the Pre-Pub mailing list (click here and scroll down), when it ships you will receive $10.00 USD in Faithlife credit. Now there's a good deal!
And yes, I'm pretty sure it's intentional.
There are also two other similar deals available but they don't get you free books.

Thanks a lot!

I presume this means they charge you $10 and then put a credit on your account. It sounds good in principle but as a non-American paying exchange fees and such I won't be getting this freebie. It's too complicated and will incur extra costs.

Thanks. I'd overlooked this one.

It worked for me...I guess we just "trust" that we will automatically get the Promo when the book ships?

It does, give or take a cent. They charge your credit card and then put the credit in your Faithlife account--not back on your credit card.

As a fellow non-American, I do not have that problem. I'm definitely going to spend at least $10 USD eventually on other Faithlife stuff, so I might as well take advantage of this offer. I might lose a few cents from fluctuations in the currency exchange rate, but I could as easily benefit by a few cents, too.
Personally, I find this freebie deceptively simple: I turn $9.99 USD into $10.00 USD of credit with Faithlife and get rewarded with a classic book for my troubles.

Unless the promo credit can only be used for the Chesterton book.

Here's a quick FAQ to clear up any confusion about this promotion:
How will I get my $10 gift? After each qualifying Pre-Publication resource is produced, we'll charge your credit card, unlock your book(s), and then send you an email containing a promotional code for $10 (and/or $20, and/or $50, depending on which books you pre-ordered) off a future order.
I pre-ordered one/all of the books. How do I know that I'll get my gift(s)?
As long as you're signed up for our Pre-Publication email list, you're good to go! Use the email capture on Verbum.com/Pre-Publication, or check your email subscription preferences at Verbum.com/account/emaillists.
Does my $10 gift apply to the cost of my The Man Who Was Thursday pre-order?
No, the $10 promotional code can only be used towards a future order on Verbum.com.
Is my $10 gift the same as Faithlife credit?
Not exactly. You'll receive a promotional code for $10 off a single transaction on Verbum.com. It will expire 90 days after it's issued. If you use your promotional code to purchase a book for $4.95, the code will not have any "remaining balance" as it cannot be used again. We highly recommend spending $10 or more to get the full value of the code.
It's a little bit complicated, but SineNomine gets the gist of it. We want to reward folks like you for participating in our Pre-Publication program!

Thanks for the info. Looks like I'll back out of this one, but it's all good to know.

every time I tried to sign up it times out for me.
I've been consistently getting errors from lyrismail and click.logosmail.com [same thing?] for months. It's certainly an inconvenience in pursuing marketing e-mail from Logos. I've found that, if I really care enough about a particular solicitation, I can connect via a local/public internet access point, so apparently our router or something like that is blocking it. Do you happen to have a Belkin router, Bruce?

It sounds like that $10 wouldn't be usable toward another Pre-Pub then, is that correct?

Due to the nature of the Pre-Publication system (we don't take your money until a resource ships), promotional codes can't be applied to pre-orders. On the plus side, there's no minimum order value for the promo code, and you can use it on any live product you find on Verbum.com.

Good memory! I promise we haven't forgotten you!
If you a) pre-ordered The Man Who Was Thursday during/before the promotion and b) are currently subscribed to the Verbum Pre-Publication email list, you'll automatically receive your $10 promotional code on Monday afternoon. We want to make sure all the orders are processed and nobody is left out.
If you can't wait until Monday, feel free to call (877-542-7664) or email (sales@verbum.com) us and we'd be happy to help you use your code (and even recommend some resources)!
Thanks again to everyone who pre-ordered this book!0 -
Boy, did I ever mess up on this one. [:S]
I pre-ordered on April 16 this year - Chesterton is an awesome author and provides great contemporary insight ....
Then I lost track of the whole promotion. I cancelled my pre-order a couple of weeks ago trying to manage the budget of course.
Now I have nothing and get nothing ... a true lose/lose scenario.
[:(]
Someday I hope to grow up and pay attention to things ...

A quick heads-up: we're having some technical difficulties with the sending of your promotional codes. The emails will go out as soon as everything is resolved (most likely on Tuesday afternoon), but you're all still free to call or email us in the meantime. Sorry for any inconvenience!
0 -
Any news on the codes? Are there still issues, or have the codes gone out yet (and for whatever reason I was missed out)?
0 -
Alas, we're still experiencing server issues, but our analytics team is working hard to resolve them. The emails (along with your $10 code) are still coming soon, but we can't guarantee a firm ETA at this point.
Again, we apologize for the inconvenience, and we're happy to manually apply your codes in the meantime. Simply call or email us at 877-542-7664 or sales@verbum.com and we'll help you out.

The email has, indeed, been sent! You should have received your code if you A) pre-ordered The Man Who Was Thursday during/before the promotion and are currently subscribed to the Verbum Pre-Publication email list. If A and B both apply but you still haven't received your code, please call (877-542-7664) or email (sales@verbum.com) us and we'd be happy to help you out.
