TIP of the day - weekend redux: The book abbreviation "Kgdms" = Samuel/Kings
I saw this while in the Factbook looking up the city of Helam, it had "referred to as Ailam" and the reference was 2 Kgdms 10:16 which when clicked on went to 2 Samuel 10:16
Is this an alternate name? I did a search of the forums for Kgdms but didn't come up with anything relevant so thought I would start a new post
"1/2 Kingdoms" seems to be the name for the Samuel books in the Septuagint - you can see this e.g. in the L6 Canon Comparison tool:

Is this an alternate name? I did a search of the forums for Kgdms but didn't come up with anything relevant so thought I would start a new postIn the Septuagint, the books 1-2 Samuel are usually called 1-2 Kingdoms, and 1-2 Kings are usually called 3-4 Kingdoms. So:
- 1 Samuel == 1 Kingdoms
- 2 Samuel == 2 Kingdoms
- 1 Kings == 3 Kingdoms
- 2 Kings == 4 Kingdoms
I also believe some English translations of the Vulgate use 'Reigns' instead of 'Kingdoms'.
The bible book names in the Douay-Rheims... You will note Chronicles is Paralipomenon and Ezra/Nehemiah are 1 + 2 Esdras. These forms of book names were in use in the RC church up into the early 60s, So any RC writers would naturally refer to them in this way.

Just happened across this same issue today and was perplexed at why "kingdoms" was coming up in a verse list. I realize now what it's referring to, but what governs how logos displays the book name? in my case I was doing a search across all bibles, and saved the results as a passage list in ESV and "kingdoms" is there. Is there a way i can tell Logos how i'd like it displayed? or does the ESV call those books kingdoms (last I checked it doesn't so i'm not sure what's happening here)

Playing with a search for Hannah ... Odes seems to remain separate. Kingdoms seems to simply depend upon processing sequence as 1 Samuel/1 Kingdoms are treated as equivalent and merged under one or the other.

so basically, if Logos gets a hit on a resource that lists it as "kingdoms", then it's going to show the reference as "kingdoms" no matter if the translation i chose uses that title or not?
