Playing Songs from the iTunes Library

Hi,
We are a small church and do not yet have a band. We sing along to songs from the iTunes library. How would I be able to play a song and also display the lyrics similtaneously without the audience seeing what happens?
Thank you for your help,
Ellen

Hey Ellen,
Proclaim supports adding music to your service items. This would allow you to add background audio to your SongLyrics service item. Then when you navigate to the song slides, the song will play automatically and you can click through your slides.
Here is an article about it: http://support.proclaimonline.com/hc/en-us/articles/202666509-How-do-I-add-audio-to-a-service-item-
However, there is one caveat, iTunes doesn't always use mp3's which is what Proclaim needs. You can easily convert the audio from iTunes using this free app from the Mac App Store: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/smart-converter/id447513724?mt=12
From iTunes you can right click on your songs and click 'Show in Finder'. Then convert this file to an mp3 and upload to Proclaim.
Let me know if you have any questions!

This post made me wonder: is it a breach of copyright to upload songs to proclaim?

If it is, I think it would be against Logos; however, I'm sure they have all the legal work behind their software.
BUT I strongly encourage every church that uses copyrighted music in any capacity to buy a license. Not only is it good stewardship, but if it ever became an issue, your church would have legal backing. It's cheap too.
Mainly for Christian music: http://us.ccli.com
I believe this is for more mainstream music (Called ASCAP License): http://www.ascap.com/licensing/types/church-or-ministry.aspx
&
(BMI License): http://www.bmi.com/licensing/entry/538844?q=Christian+Copyright+Solutions
&
(SESAC): http://www.sesac.com Which is I think for Europe
Depending on your need, will determine what licenses you need. If you stream your worship services, if you have a live band that uses copyrighted music, or if you display music lyrics on screen. And the price is based on how many members, I think.
It's kind of complicated at first, but is necessary in the world we live in today when people and organizations are getting sued right and left.
