Proclaim Remote App: Slides displaying incorrectly

The past couple of weeks I have experienced the android proclaim remote app while in control mode and speaker notes enabled not displaying the correct slide content on the app but seems to display the correct notes.
Currently the presentation pc sits on the podium with the speaker notes displayed so I have been able to alt tab to switch between proclaims main view and notes to complete my message.
I use a Samsung Galaxy NotePro 12.2 SM‑P900 to control the presentation to be a little more mobile and still have my notes and sides to keep me on track. It really catches you off guard when a slide repeates but displays the correct notes.
Please advise how I may not experience this again.
I also like to have the ability to control the size of the slide and text on the remote app. For example to adjust the size of the slide smaller and increase the speaker notes text size to fit the screen for optimum viewing arms length away so I don't have to plant my face in my device but am able to glace at it and keep better eye contact with the congregation.
A similar view on the presentation pc with slide navigation and speakers notes with size control for both slide and speaker notes text size would be very helpful as well. Currently the presentation PC speaker notes are not scrollable and it would work much nicer for me if it would work more like the app to scroll through a longer page of notes when needed. This could be an added feature of the presentation pc to display and resize slides and speaker notes for those whom use proclaim like I do. I know other presentation programs work this way for those who do not have tablets for remote control and viewing speaker notes.
I have even dreamed of a way to create my messages like writing a document and inserting the code to control when to insert scripture like I just recently have seen on a proclaim minute by typing [[John 10:10]] but with a twist. To have proclaim start using these features from the notes with the ability for additional codes for say new slide, denote this text to display as content, maybe even show as a different color in my notes, etc. You get the idea. Even the ability to import or load this file and the core of a presentation would be created with notes. Maybe it's because I come from an technology background but I just think it would be simpler to take my speaker notes and once in proclaim customize the background, text size, color, and add any other final touches needed.
I love logos products!
Thanks for allowing me to better communicate the gospel message with confidence.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Seeing the incorrect slide in the Android app is a bug. It seems that scrolling fast can sometimes cause the slides to get a little scrambled. I will need to take a look at this soon. Does this happen for you consistently or does it only happen hit-or-miss? If you can reproduce it consistently, I would love to hear some repro steps on how you can get this bug to occur.
As for the text size/slide size, that makes a lot of sense and I'll put that in my list of features to implement.
Keep these ideas coming! Many Proclaim features get started and shaped from these kinds of posts. We love hearing how people use Proclaim and what they would like to see in the future!

Jordan I will try to do some further testing to find out if there is a way to reproduce it consistently.
I did forget to add another feature request and that is the ability to access the speaker notes while not online. Mainly this allows for notes access to prepare for service on the go and to reference latter when someone has followup questions.

Sounds good.
Just to clarify, you would like to see your notes when the presentation is not onAir? Similar to how you can view your slides in the app from all your presentations? Makes sense to me!

Yes with in the Proclaim Remote App while a presentation is not OnAir to not only be able to see the slides but also see the speaker notes. For service prep/review while on the go.

I forgot to note the old Proclaim Remote App had this feature. It would be nice that the view would look like it was OnAir so as I prep for service it will look the same as when OnAir.

Jordan,
I have tested with my last presentation and so far it shuffles some slides on the remote app every time but not the same slide. I did however notice that with speaker notes enabled and when displaying a bible slide at the top of the speaker notes box the reference is displayed as Mark 10:46–52 BIBLE PASSAGE. It seems that anytime a reference includes a - (dash) that – is displayed instead. Not sure if this is part of the problem or not.
I have experienced issues in the past that I couldn't figure out and just remembered what I tried. Since I duplicate old presentations each week and make my changes for my current presentation. I remembered that I started from a blank one and my issues disappeared. If I recall this happened after some new function had been added. So that we be my next test.
I would ask that if you find and further workarounds\fixes please notify me.

Thank-you for your help Troy, I will let you know what I find.

(p.s. I doubt the dash is causing your issue, however it shouldn't be rendering weird, so I will take a look at that too)

Jordan,
After trying several things (tired to use summer presentation and then a new from scratch presentation) I still experienced the same issue consistently. I noticed that sometimes on opening to control a presentation and slowly just scrolling the slides to check their order some would be displayed incorrectly within the Proclaim Remote App. But once you start advancing the sides they appeared correctly once I got to that slide. The more consistent way in which I was able to duplicate the issue was to present each of the first 2 to 3 slides then scroll down past the next slide and then scroll back up to the slide that is next from the active one being presented.
To get the slides to be shown correctly I either exited from controlling the presentation on the Proclaim remote app or I found that if I scrolled fast to the bottom and fast back to the top of the presentation and the slides would be shown correctly again. The scrolling reset is not a good option on a long presentation.
So to recap it seems that scrolling down more than 1 slide at a time and then back up gets the undesired results of incorrectly displaying the slides within the Proclaim remote app.
Also I'm not sure where the app crash logs go when I report them but during my testing the proclaim remote app crashed several times it seemed when the slides were being displayed incorrectly and I continued to scroll up and down without doing a "slide reset". I said that to say Google and you should have access to some kind of troubleshooting logs to assist you in correcting this as I reported it several times.
So my next question is can this be corrected by this weekend? Please!

Thanks for the digging! Unfortunately, it's not going to be fixed by this weekend but I will try to fix it soon.

Jordan,
Just checking in with you regarding this fix, any updates as to when I can test a fix for you? It wouldn't be such a major issue for me but the remote app is the only way to access and scroll through longer notes. If I had a similar access within Proclaim's main view I could get by as well. Looking forward to seeing a solution soon.
Thanks,
Troy

Hey Troy,
I have been working on a different project that will be wrapping up soon. I will get going on this Android bug as the very next thing.
If you have your computer on the podium, a possible workaround would be to use onAir edit to view your notes. Lets say you have 5 content items, before service you could go to the notes pane on all five. Then during service, enter 'edit' while onAir, and by double clicking the service items in the 'timeline' or the 'order of service', you will be able to see the notes and have the slide transition.
Not the most elegant, but it might work for you until I get the fix out.

Jordan,I will try that.During this process I have noticed that it would be very functional if the remote app would allow for a 1 touch slide navigation. Such as an area on the slide for next or back instead of needing to scroll down and then click. The ability to scroll is nice to review the next slides and review notes but during the live presentation having a 1 click navigation would be a lot easier.By the way I appreciate your efforts to help us present the Gospel Message with great media and scripture with ease. Keep up the great work!Troy0

Jordan,
I tried your suggestion but when executing seems very difficult while sharing a message. I am looking forward to the remote app functioning normally. Praying you get your other project completed and get to work on this issue.
Please keep me up to date at to the status.

Jordon,
I've been having similar issues with my presentations on the remote. But some of the slides only show up as little white squares. The notes are appropriate for that slide. I now the slide is right because it shows up correctly on the screen and advances the way it should.
Don't know if this thought clarifies anything or not.
Thanks Jordon for all you are doing. [:)]

Jordan,
I haven't heard any updates on the Proclaim remote app. I saw you on a recent video showing the new audio record features built into Proclaim now. Looks cool but I need to have my remote app working before I can try any new features. What is the time frame we are looking at for this fix? Thanks for your time and energy in making this a solid product. Troy

Hey Troy, thanks for your patience on this. I did look into your issue a few weeks back, but did not end up with a quick fix.
What version of Android are you running? I was having a hard time reproducing this problem, until I tried an Android 5.0 and up device. Then I could reproduce it all the time. I ended up following this all the way to a tool we use. Turns out Android made a change that broke something that we use.
I am going to be spending a lot of time on the remote starting next week, and this issue will definitely be towards the top of the list.

Also, I just thought of another workaround. documents.logos.com
You can view your notes (and scroll them) from your presentations on the web. The steps are:
- On your tablet, go to documents.logos.com
- Login with the same account that you use for Proclaim
- Click on the presentation you want to view
- Select the notes view in the upper right.

Jordan,
My tablet is Android 5.0.2 and my phone is 5.0.1. Sounds like you have identified the issue which is good news, not to be confused with the Good News, Jesus Saves!
I know you are busy but if you every would like to do a Google Hangout and troubleshoot, discuss, and/or brainstorm before you start any big coding changes just let me know. I would be interested in testing your products if that is even possible. Let me know if I can be of any assistance, all for the glory of God.

Jordan,
The documents.logos.com link looks like it would be a great link to add within the Proclaim program and Proclaim remote app allowing an easy way for printing presentations for offline use. I could see this being a confidence builder with those who struggle trusting a different workflow using technology.
I will say that the Notes selection on documents.logos.com would function better if there was the ablity to print out every slide along side the notes instead of just the first one of say 5. For example when using a Bible slide with several verses that span multiple slides on the same slide in the order of service. When building your presentation and you don't add the slide details, scripture in my example, in the notes section and you have to use the print out because of a glitch with the technology you would be blind to what was on that slide unless you printed out the complete order of service too. Of course this would work but the flow of information when presenting is key and having 1 print out for the speaker with all the slides along side with notes would flow much better.
Thanks for this tip.

That is what I figured. I'm glad things are starting to add up.

I'll let you know if/when we setup a beta for the remote again.
As for documents.logos.com, there is a link in Proclaim. It is under the account menu (Your name in the upper right).
I'll pass that feedback on to the documents team.
Thanks!

Jordan,
Checking on status of the Proclaim Remote. I have been using my PC to advance the slides and using the Proclaim Remote to follow my notes. It seems to work but really looking forward to getting back to a solid remote and note feature. Any timeline on a fix for this yet?

Hey Troy, actually yes! Nick just shipped a fix for the scrambled slides/memory leak that Android 5.0+ was suffering from. Looks the the update is live on Google Play right now.
