In February, 2007, Dr. James White (published in Logos in the James R. White Collection) presented a series of Dividing Line programs that amounted to informal lectures on textual criticism. These discussions could be of considerable value to a Logos user, such as I, who does not have a scholarly background or is not quite as well-read as others. (And probably others, also.) Dr. White's experience in original languages, knowledge of manuscripts and text families, and his knowledge of Church History, provide a well-rounded look at the issue. The introductory program starts out with some history (Erasmus, Ximenes) and you might get hooked on it from there.
I have attached a document that contains links to the audio on Sermon Audio and to the aomin.org blog posts that have graphics and PDFs he refers to in the programs.

I should also note that one of White's books, The King James Only Controversy provides a readable introduction to textual issues for those of us lacking formal training.
