Issue with going "On Air" and keeping the computer monitor in preview and edit mode

When I click "On Air" to start my presentation it automatically makes my laptop screen match the exact display of the projector screen instead of keeping the preview and edit mode up and accessible while slides project on the screen. My laptop is setup for projecting meaning the laptop is set to the 1 monitor and the projector is set to the 2 monitor but this still seems to be an issue. I need to be able to go "On Air" to project the slides while at the same time be able to see/edit all slides and announcements and to move where I need to go seamlessly. Any help with this is appreciated.

Hi, John-Mark. Going on air creates a fullscreen window, which is the projection your audience sees. You can multitask using Alt + Tab or Command + Tab to get back to the edit/preview mode and make on air edits. This article may help as well.

Check the Settings menu item. Sounds like you have both displays configured for the "Slides" output.

This is very interesting. Could you take a screenshot of your Mac's display settings on the arrangement tab? It appears Proclaim thinks that your laptop monitor is two outputs at the same time (hence the overlapping numbers). Your display settings may give us more info. Are you running El Capitan by the way?

I have no problem running Keynote through a projector.

Thank-you for the screenshots. I haven't tracked the issue down yet, but it is clear that Proclaim is incorrectly getting the screen coordinates. You may be able to remedy this issue by changing the arrangement of your displays in Apple's display settings. This may cause Proclaim to have to re-retrieve the screen coordinates and may resolve your issue.
We will continue to try and figure this out on our end. Let me know if you get anywhere.

p.s. Do you happen to have this setting checked? Although not the cause, it may help me narrow it down.

My display machine does not have 'Group windows by application' checked although checking it does not alter things on my iMac with plug in second monitor.
BTW I have never seen the behaviour that Timothy is experiencing. The only time that I have had a glitch with a monitor was when the refresh rate was set inappropriately. That setting is greyed out on my monitor panel.

I was talking about 'Displays have separate Spaces' but maybe you knew that.

Yes I do have that checked. I have also changed the arrangement and went "On Air" and it still stayed on the one screen. Thank you!
Can you go onAir and enter 'Mission Control'. Then take a screenshot? Similar to this one I just took. I'm wondering what you'll see since it seems the windows are on top of each other.

Sweet, now try dragging the fullscreen Proclaim window to the other monitor while in Mission Control.

That works!!! I tried to replicate it by going off air and back on and I had to move it again. I will try it downstairs in the space I will be using it and report back in a few minutes! Thanks.

No Problem, this is at least a work around. I'll continue to test on my 10.11 machine and see if I can get in the same state as you.

It works. I have to drag it to the projector screen each time.

Look familiar?
I think I just figured it out. I'm actually surprised we haven't run into this before.
Go to Proclaim in your Dock and right click on it. Then hover over Options.
I bet you will see that Proclaim is 'Assigned' to Desktop 1. When Proclaim is assigned to a specific monitor, Apple overrides what we tell it to do.
Hopefully this solves your issue. I'm going to look and see if there is a way around this. If not, I will make sure that a help article gets written so that future people won't get stuck on this as well.

We have the same problem as Tim. We updated everything this week and this morning this happened. Our people who run it on sunday are not mac or proclaim proficient.

Did you understand the solution to Tim's problem?
Your doc bar may be either on the side of the screen or the bottom as in the illustration, it may also need you to move the cursor nearer the edge to make it appear.
Once you can see the Proclaim icon in the doc either, a two finger click on the track pad, or a right click, on the icon should give you the menu item shown.
If this does not cure your problem you might like to review the other solutions proposed further up the thread - these would solve related but different problems. If you are still have difficulties after all this you would be well advised to accept that you have a different problem and start a new thread.

pushing Alt + t allows me to see the edit screen while on air but also makes the projector move to the edit screen as well... Is there another way to have the projector full screen but the laptop in edit mode?

When the comp. is connecte to the projector it still only has 1 option for a monitor display under settings.

I'm on my laptop (single screen) so cannot take a good screen shot to show you, but I suspect you have mirroring turned on in your system display settings.
Open System Preferences to the Displays settings and turn mirroring off. You then should be able to see both in Proclaim Settings for Displays and set one to show 'Slides' and one to show the app which you can put into edit mode while onAir
