Bug or new feature? 4.0b Beta 9: text "scrunching" when toggling between a resource and its info pan

I noticed this starting with 4.0b Beta 7, but only now am getting around to reporting it. When you click the "i" icon and "Done" alternately, to toggle back and forth between a resource and its info panel, the text in the middle "scrunches" up temporarily before the display changes. I'm not sure if this was added on purpose to make the transition look cool, but it seems superfluous and could be interpreted as a display glitch (that's what it looked like to me, as a user familiar with the way it used to look). In any event, it slows things down unnecessarily. It used to just switch rapidly to the info panel. Why the need for this change? Or is it a bug?

Looks like a feature to me. Technically anything visually pretty can slow things down [:)]. This flipping effect seems to be quite popular now... my anti-virus does it too!

This "flip" animation has been present since the earliest 4.0 betas. The animation is supposed to last 0.2s; if your CPU or graphics card can't render all the frames, they will just be dropped, which is why you may not have seen it before?
