Proclaim seriously lagging when advancing slides - Windows 7

Yesterday during our worship service, our video tech had a terrible time keeping Proclaim on the correct slides. He said it would just "spin" instead of advancing to the correct slide. Our internet connection was very spotty and unreliable yesterday, but I don't know if that might have made a difference or not.

    Hi Monica

If it was your internet connection, the cause probably would have been not allowing the service to download to the presentation machine in advance.

This is always a good practice and insures against just the sort of thing that connectivity problems can produce.

I am afraid it might be a case of 'Fail to prepare - prepare to fail'.

Of course if the complete service was downloaded and synced then it is not the internet that will be the problem.

    Mike,

I understand what you are saying. The internet may have been trying to pull a sync from the cloud during the service. I did not want it to sync, because I was running from an offline backup of the presentation. If that was my issue, is there a way to disable automatic syncing (other than taking the entire computer offline)?

Proclaim's inability to contact our servers due to spotty network should not impact application performance. Is this the same machine you posted here? https://community.logos.com/forums/t/117772.aspx

Actually, it isn't, Scott. Yesterday was a tough day for tech. :)

Sorry to hear that. Upon further inspection of your log file (thanks for saving that!) I see that DNS lookup was failing in an unexpected way. Rather than failing immediately Proclaim was spending a lot of time trying to resolve the DNS, then failing, which would effectively hang the app. We're working on trying to simulate this failure in house so we can come up with a fix. This issue would have been in Proclaim since day one so it's rare that someone could get into such a state. Do you have any extra information about your network which might help us set up a repro?
