I know that Faithlife doesn't sell it.

    How compelling is it?

That depends on what you bring to it.

Dr. Brown, who is a YEC, is not one of the 'group' affiliated with Morris/Ham, etc., but rather an M.I.T. PhD (mechanical engineering). As such, there's more emphasis on the science and evidence than on theology. He divides the book into sections on biology, chemistry, physics/astronomy, etc., then has a separate full section on his theory of the Noahic flood that he calls 'hydroplate theory'. He also includes sections on the ice age and formation of comets. He has extensive footnotes, several appendices with charts and timetables, and a very extensive FAQ section.

The book is indispensable if you are a YEC, and an excellent resource even if you aren't. It's encyclopedia format would make it a great Logos tool if it were indexed as such.

I am definitely not a YEC, but this book does sounds very interesting and something worth reading. There are many top scientists who have long acknowledged the apparent evidence of a designer behind the universe. Not to start a debate on the age of the universe. But statistics alone point to the fact that the universe would need to be several times as old as it is for chance to be responsibly for life. The discoverer of DNA alone acknowledged this a planetary scale suggesting the earth was seeded by aliens. I know Dawkins is loaded by some atheists but even among them his science is severely questioned to the point many serious atheists have out right said his works are an embarrassment. I have never read any of his books but have heard the man speak, he is a fair rhetorical speaker but hardly compelling in my mind to anyone willing to try to examine his arguments. He reminds me of most politicians these days all talking points and little substance.

PS: Rambling on so on this as I am currently almost through Answering the New Atheism: Dismantling Dawkins’ Case against God a book well worth reading.
