Interesting book found in Orthodox Gold and Platinum.

Covers some of the changes to the Hebrew scripture during the Babylonian Captivity. And uses examples to show that the author is on track.

For example: God Most High and Lord were NOT seen as the same being prior to the Captivity but were seen as one and the same after.

Thanks Gabe for bringing it to our attention.

Margaret Barker is always interesting reading, but sometimes she only speculates. For example that the purging done by King Josia was wrong.

Her book on the Lady (also in Logos) is one of her latest books.

She is not orthodox nor affiliated with the Orthodox Churches as far I know.

    An uncommon affiliation:

Margaret Barker is an independent biblical scholar who has been developing her Temple Theology for many years, most recently as the basis for a theology of the environment. She is a former president of the Society for Old Testament Study, a member of the Ecumenical Patriarch’s Symposium on Religion, Science and the Environment, and a Methodist local preacher.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
