Quest for the Historical Adam

I'm pretty sure this has already been posted, but can't find it so am posting it here JIC-

Quest for the Historical Adam by Wm VanDoodewaard (RHB, 2015).

The whole book is good, but the last few chapters provide a most needed overview of who said what and where a bunch of important theologian lie on the spectrum of thought about creationary and evolutionary worldviews. Indispensable, IMO.

I tried to contain my sense of humor (precision) but I can't resist... should I trust an author who doesn't think of Adam as existing in prehistory? Or did the Bible fail to mention that Adam was created as a scribe.

I glossed through the Amazon reviews and looks like that book does not offer much new.

Also regarding to the literal interpretation - is it really literal, or is it something traditional (late jewish/medieval/midwest?)

God created Adam, but was he the first human being? Linguistically this can be interesting. While I was in Africa, I've got the feeling that they think that all individuals are created by God, not just the first one of our species.

It's a book of historical theology rather than biblical interpretation. I'm not aware of any other books that covers that specific topic as thoroughly as this book. I'd be interested to know where you think this has been written before?
