Pretty similar, really. Although it's public domain, a good proportion of it is 16th and 17th century, which (in my opinion at least) produced much better biblical and theological scholarship than the 19th century public domain stuff.

The library builders are still being produced. For example, the Wesleyan and Methodist Library builder has just come out today. But they're different from the mega packs. The mega packs are put together for a very limited period whereas the library builders are more long term.

It is a package well worth purchasing. A bit dated, of course, but it is quality old stuff, much of it aged well like fine wine.

Alas, this makes two such offers I would have seriously considered before the changes in payment plans, but not now. Which probably means Logos saved me some money (needed for those nine grandchildren's Christmas toys) and kept their cash flow healthy.

Bloomsbury Bundle > 500 Mega Pack.

$3 books > $1 books.

For me, 500 Mega Pack is filled with unwanted/unpopular community pricing books. And although somewhat it can be said the same for Bloomsbury Bundle (the unpopular part), Bloomsbury is much more valuable.

I got few complaints for Logos:

Why can't Logos tell us on the page how many new books are for us? I'm tired counting manually all the time, especially this many books.
Please hyperlink the books under "new to me" not the ones on the very bottom.
Please tell us the name of bundles of those individuals are coming from..say example.. The Mystical Presence: A Vindication of the Reformed or Calvinistic Doctrine of the Holy Eucharist AND Vindication of the Revised Liturgy are in John Williamson Nevin Collection (13 vols.). Kinda like what Mark Barnes did on the top of this page.

Agreed. As a workaround, paste the list into Excel, and look at the number of the last cell in the table.

Yes, but still, Logos needs to make things easier to purchase not complicate it.

I agree with all the suggestions for improvement here in the way Logos presents these bundles but at the same time am thankful for the improvements they have made, it wasn't that long ago we didn't have the New to You presentation on this pages and we had to email customer support and wait for someone to respond to us with a list. So thanks to the team putting these pages together for the improvements so far and I look forward to seeing continued improvement in the future.

As to the old complaint about these bundles being lots of PD stuff, we all know that PD titles are what these bundles are all about. So if your not into what has been written in the past that's fine - pass over these bundles, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, others will scourer these resources for hidden gems and sometimes find nuggets of wisdom. Some people like to read these gems and nuggets within the wider context of what the original author was saying rather than simply as standalone quotes by a a modern author. Logos is a business, they have to fund their ongoing success and if selling PD titles to those who are interested in them is one of the ways they can do this, if there are customers interested in these bundles then they should continue to offer them.

I personally think it's great that Logos is producing public domain resources. Even though I can find them online, many times the text and format is so cumbersome that I don't bother working with it. When it's in Logos, it's much more usable to me.

The "New to You" feature is quite recent, and we're still rolling that out across the balance of the collections we sell. We do have some very good designs that may allow us to "nest" resources within parent collections on these types of pages, and hope to have that working sometime in 2016. The question of "count" is a tricky one that we've spent considerable energy on, and that we also have a solid plan to improve on in the coming year.

We're proud of what the team was able to assemble in this year's Mega Pack. We hope many of you find value in it well beyond it's discounted price and are able to enjoy the significant contribution to your library.

I am not referring to the long term Library builders currently being offered, rather the very short-lived Library Builders offered a few years ago (2006-2007). See the attached link from the Logos Wiki. Those were great values (even though I missed the offering in 2007).

I agree that they're completely different packages, and those Library Builders offered great value. Interesting, I didn't buy either of them, partly because there was no dynamic discount in those days, so everyone had to pay full price (I had about half the volumes already).

I think the modern equivalent to those Library Builders are the many base packages which are available all year around. They have a similar discount level to the Library Builders, and dynamic pricing makes them better value (IMO) than even the Library Builders were back in 2006-7.

What I personally like about the Mega Packs is that they include a lot of resources from outside the base packages.

Ultimately, I don't mind whether or not they're public domain works or copyrighted works. There are plenty of copyrighted works not worth reading, and plenty of public domain works that are well worth studying and pondering in depth.

For me, the Mega Pack includes some real treasures (particularly Bonar), and I was happy to add it to my library. Not everyone will feel the same, which is why Logos have such a wide range of resources, I guess.

It may be less valuable on your side of the pond. Horatius Bonar was an important figure in the Scottish church, even though we now know his brother Andrew rather better. He's particularly well known for his hymns, and some of his writings are still in print. His writings are important historically, because he was very well known in Scotland, and was part of the group that seceeded from the Church of Scotland to form the Free Church, and because he was one of the big driving forces behind premillenarianism becoming popular in places, and supported Edward Irving.

For me, there are works I won't bother to read because they're kind of old (I don't have a lot of interest in 19th century historical-critical biblical analysis, for example); yet, there are also works I end up reading simply because they are very old. Age and relevance are weakly correlated, but if something stays around long enough, a reverse correlation sometimes grows.

I always enjoy the opportunity to add many volumes to my expanding Logos 6 library. It has nowhere near caught up to my print library I have on my shelves here at home. But the marvel of it is that I am now getting out of print works that I could not secure from bookstores.

Years ago I made many trips to the Kregel Bookstore and the Baker Book House, both of which then had very extensive second-hand Christian books.

In this 500 Book Mega Pack 2015 I am delighted to get the four volume autobiography of George Mueller. I've had the single-volume biography done by A. T. Pierson, so I'm looking forward to reading the original autobiography. Pastor Norman Douty of East Lansing, Michigan highly commended that resource to me should I ever find it. He and his wife had a huge collection (thousands of volumes) of Christian, especially missionary, biography they had collected over many years.

So, besides the collections listed in the Opening Post, I found many other gems well worth having in this Mega Pack offering.

I purchased this set and I'm wondering if anyone has the list for the 500 Book Mega Pack, 2015 Edition. I found a page that lists 3 sets and the OP lists a few others. But I actually cannot seem to find a nice way within Logos to look at everything I own other than scrolling, which I find cumbersome and slow, especially since I downloaded all those free Latin resources... I'll have to figure out how to delete those too.

Those were the days, indeed. I am thankful for all the resources I picked up, both old and new, for they have been a great blessing to me over these many years since. I then drove a little VW Beetle, and filled the back seat with boxes of books, and hauled them back to my apartment in Detroit quite a few times.
